Yes…but all the “chapek” mistakes he has claimed are the problems…are pretty much his fault.

My comment was that legitimate mentions disappeared. But I know I need “tempered” as well.
Agreed and if he wasn’t such a coward concerned about his legacy and didn’t run when Covid was on the rise, we probably wouldn’t even be having this conversation today. But I digress

Even the GOTG financial ones, expressing facts - not opinion or prognostication- were wiped. This probably will be too. Not sure how the underperformance of huge tentpole films don’t affect the things you said, but oh well.

The only thing to discuss when a company loses money, are the things that could help it make more or lose more money.

Very confusing indeed.

If I recall didn't Iger wanted to quit several times and the Disney Board convinced him to stay during those times? Whatever the case when he leaves ( again ), he is soon to be part of the BBC ( Billionaire Boys Club ).

Good for him. Iger left the company suddenly and without explanation, like documented effective immediately without explanation just before the parks shut down for Covid. A mere weeks. It was quite a time.

Yes. But he basically up and ran when covid was on the rise. Not because he suddenly wanted to leave again but because he was afraid the effects of Covid on the company would tarnish his legacy.

There were people who then and still to thjs day attempt to say that is not what happened.

Ridiculous. They need to have some dignity

I'm not saying Chapek was perfect he made a lot of questionable decisions and always seemed to have his foot in his mouth. However Iger is getting a lot of passes for doing the same stuff Chapek was or planed to do. An example The layoffs when Chapek announced them he got crucified, Iger not so much.
I watch a few movie pundits and when Chapek mentioned cutting cost with Disney plus shows the argument was " Iger knows you got to invest in shows to build your service he wouldn't cut budgets or cancel shows. He let the creative people do their job he knows that's how you make your money." Now that Iger said they're working on cutting cost and spending less the tone is " Iger realizes that you can't just spend money on stuff people won't watch this is healthy and something that needs to be done in order for Disney to thrive." As I said Chapek wasn't perfect and made questionable decisions but he was the boogeyman because he wasn't Iger.

I think because you are ignoring context and detail.

Chapek got negativity about layoffs because of the timeframe of covid - and never got the credit for employing as many as they did for so long.

Iger isn't getting the same negativity about budgets/cuts because the market expectations around them have changed - and Iger is pushing to spend strategically instead of drunk overspending.. which is what Chapek apparently was doing.

They both are bad in their own way. The only thing I will give credit to Iger for is he is better at PR. That's it, he's no savior like many CMs thought he was. He is still neglecting the parks.

It's been 6months - what were you expecting in this timeframe?

They've already announced lots of operational changes that favor the customer - while the prior trajectory was 'screw what the customer wants'
Disneyland took 1 year to build, that means he has 6 more months to fix everything! /s

I actually had a bit more appreciation for Iger because of that. On the day that Nancy Messonnier made her "disruption to everyday life may be severe," statement that got her sidelined, he was out the door. It took a lot longer for many, many others to recognize that reality and take any action. Over time I've raised his grade for "ability to recognize key problems," while continuing to give him a low grade for "ability to develop and implement effective solutions to key problems." When he talks about things, I usually feel like, "Yes, you do recognize there is a problem here." Followed by a Luke-scream "NOOOOOOO!" when he starts talking about fixing it.

Chapek was responsible for almost nothing. I think those with a relatively open mind can follow the sequence of events…to say nothing of almost 20 years of “management” history…to piece together the truth on this one

ehh.. changes were happening almost immediately.

You still haven't outlined what you expected to happen in this timeframe.
Maybe some urgency in a response to Epic Universe. Actually announce they are going through with those blue sky stuff. Instead of saying $17 billion is coming actually say what is coming. Actions speak louder than words.
