Sell ABC, ESPN,
These are large profit centers. They kept Disney buoyed up during the lockdowns.

So, tell me, *why* selling them is a good idea.

merge Hulu and D+(?),
It's planned to happen. Just gotta let the contract with Comcast play out for one more year.

rollback some park changes made post Covid,
The semi-hostile takeover has nothing to do with parks. It's about either jacking up the stock or paying out dividends. You can be darned sure that Peltz will be on the side of squeezing more 'yield' from each park-goer.

invest in park expansion or a 5th gate which would be restocking the money printing machine. Stock will rise that day.
This is exactly why Disney is under attack from Peltz.

You don't believe there are people who will do almost anything to get their Disney fix? People on Disney message boards have talked openly for years about what they do to pay for Disney, including going into long-term debt.
I didn't say such people don't exist.

But, if one reads the original survey, they are a small minority. The clickbait is the significant number of people who go into short-term debt but pay it off within a year being conflated with the much smaller number of people who go into long term debt.

And people go into long term debt for other types of luxuries... Disney just is their overindulgence of choice.

The one question I have on this is that it really sounded like at the time Iger made this all happen. Did he get wind of a breakup due to streaming and want to come in for his legacy? Or was he really out of that loop and we were wrong assuming he orchestrated it?
Trust your feelings, you must

But it blames the parks solely for the fall of Chapek, which isn't true.

Yes, there are troubles with the parks, but one doesn't have to inflate those troubles into things that they're not in order to express displeasure at them.

One can legitimately complain about price increases without passing along false intimations that large swaths of people are going into long-term debt or bankruptcy over it (they're not).

When people are angry about stuff -- an anger that is justified -- they still have a tendency to way overstate their case when there is no need to. That hyperbole actually undercuts their stance since now the discussion is about those outrageous claims.
Based on recent events…it seems clear to me that parks had almost NOTHING to do with chapeks ouster.

It was him talking to Peltz with a board almost entirely appointed by Iger

If not…it was colonel mustard in the library with the candlestick

Has anyone seen this promoted tweet by Trian? They are doing a full court press to get on the board. Presentation is very interesting:

This is the pr campaign attached to the proxy bid by a hedge fund that specializes in corporate raiding and sell offs by a billionaire activist investor who…unfortunately this has to be said…has been known to sup at mar a lago and lives next door…as does Ike…
It went up last night

…for those of you that can’t see the scoreboard clearly from the cheap seats

Are you implying this is a reaction to what some perceive as the cultural/political tilt over the last year or so?

LOL, "Ensuring customers get real value." Yeah, I'm sure an activist investment firm is definitely concerned with this.

Especially when combined with the vague "additional profits and efficiencies." He's pretty much saying, they should make more money and cut costs without having to specify how that should be accomplished. That's not to say that there aren't situations where cutting costs has no impact on the customer, but the odds of that happening with a company like Disney are quite slim unless there's some incredible level of overstaffing in departments like accounting (which even then would have to be unbelievably high in order to make any sort of material impact on the company's performance and is something highly unlikely to have survived the CEO merry-go-round of the past 3 years, especially when Bob "take a penny but never leave a penny" Chapek was looking for every possible way to charge more while offering less).

The only thing two things he cares about is making himself more money and getting more power. Don't fall for his bull****.

At least when Roy did something similar with Eisner, he had the Disney name to fall back on. This guy is literally a stock buyer.

If Disney fans need something to unite behind, making sure this guy can't influence Company decisions is very high on that list.

We thought it was pure ego…
But it’s becoming clear that it was about 80% duress.

Arnold, Chrissy, d’amaro…there is a legitimate chance at raiding here…

That was the whole deal.

Chapek was talking to the wolves outside the henhouse…and you never let the idiot do that.

It’s on Iger. Fear of the virus. Good job, Bob

And do you really think Arnold called Iger?
Does that make any sense now?…
I bet the call went like this:
BI: “execute order 67”
SA: “It will be done, me lord”
Good points , what execs at times tell the media is what is supposed to be believed.

The fact that they have to PAY to spread these tweets should give you an indication how well this is going to go.

My favorite is when people laud themselves as “smart” for cutting out things they used to enjoy - because they can’t afford it - in order to still go for the rest at the same or higher prices…

…what genii 🤓

You gotta read the bio on Peltz…

There are many paths/outcomes here…some big and some not so big…maybe even we pull a rabbit and it’s good?
Possible.

But dismissive is setting yourself up here. These aren’t amateurs.

So, basically as soon as Iger was out he started to plan this. He saw something to exploit in Chapek then?
