I know he has a non disclosure agreement, but I would love to hear Chapek's take on everything. Disney can say whatever it wants about him and he just has to bite his lip and take it to get paid.

Sorry, but I call BS on this. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but I can't imagine anyone thinking McDonald's food is better quality than quick service food at Disney. Yes, even at the All Stars food courts. I'm not claiming the All Stars serve gourmet fare, but McDonald's? Come on.

Sorry, I call BS on this. QS is no better or worse than any fast food place and at an exponentially higher price. All dining at WDW has been surprisingly subpar for its reputation (and cost).

I think they identified in about 1955 that the entire secret to McDs - and all other chains - is consistency. People don’t go to the OG for “authentic Italian cuisine from scratch”…

As far as the quick serve goes on property…I think it’s actually gotten better over the last 10 years…
…but they’ve gutted a lot of the sit downs to do it and that’s what made - at least wdw - stand out

Also, they found that consistency is much easier to ensure if you replace all the actual food on the menu with artificial fillers and preservatives.

Things progressively got worse under Iger and customers now jump over each other to pay more for the scraps.

Nothing about chapek sucking changes the system he was in and acted goon on.

I think consistency refers to the fact that any McDonald’s anywhere is going to serve something familiar. This is true internationally as well as within the US. You pretty much know what you’re going to get regardless of where you order it.

Well remember it was a lot faster too…so that was a Revolution.

Pucks express was one of the best “upscale quick serves” I’ve ever had…

I could see that being pushed by Iger behind the scenes, it all hit the fan, and then Iger can conveniently roll it back and blame Chapek. Not saying that is what happened but Iger can get a lot of positive publicity by simply undoing things he supported but which fell on Chapek's shoulders.

The big question is how does he and Disney change some of these processes? D+ will present some serious challenges, if I had to guess the future, and Pixas and Disney Animation need to find that missing spark that used to be present in movies. All of this during what is still an unsettled period due to inflation, post-Covid anxiety, and other challenges. The parks are probably the least of the concerns, aside from some nominal changes to keep the parks running at full steam.

Well, it had only happened once since the triple price hike of 1986, and it was when Iger took over in 2006. He did institute seasonal pricing, and doubled AP prices. All approved by Iger.

I feel like Chapek got such a good rap from trying to clean up igers mess. All of this stuff has been implemented when Iger was still here that’s missing now. I think Chapek doesn’t have that fake smile and I’ll take a selfie with you attitude so the fans don’t like him.

Yeah - I'll agree with that - though I don't think of Disney Springs' places as your typical "QS" place but normal, high end, mall fare.

It's not a recent thing either, I've been going for about the past 10 years and when I first went was looking forward to some of the restaurants at the resorts and in the parks for their reputations and was disappointed in almost all of them. It seems like all of the buffet places try to give Golden Corral a run for the money. I like Ohanas but only because it's one of the better on-site Disney restaurants. If it were a place at home it'd be near the bottom of my list.

The Boma breakfast buffet is very good (it's hard to screw up a breakfast buffet, though). Flying Fish is excellent and have always felt like I got my money's worth there. Both of those opinions are based on pre-pandemic visits, though -- no idea what they're like now.

Everywhere else I've eaten at parks/resorts on my two trips in the past 5 years were mediocre/overpriced, including California Grill and Via Napoli (both of which I see people praise).

We went to Disney Springs for a late dinner near or after park closing most nights because eating at places like Polite Pig and Pizza Ponte was both easier and just better than eating in the parks.
