LOL at Iger talking about the Disney Company's "values".

What the hell does he know about that? He's the guy who's too cheap to fix or replace the broken Yeti in EE, and instead put a strobe light on it. Good enough for the peasants, I guess.

Despite his BS about "changing the world through good" (, how pompous can you get?) the only "value" Iger cares about is money. Period. And his public image. Which, BTW, is not impressing the stock market today...

If Bob thinks getting the company involved in that Don't Say Gay stuff was the "right" thing to do, he's a complete and utter idiot.

As circumstances have proven.

Aye and look at Eternals, Lightyear, Strange Worlds all failed because they forgot mass market and looking to aim not to make money from the middle east and the middle kingdom by selling their products.

Were any of those questions unexpected, or required a definitive yes or no? He had a nice spin on things but it's because he knew those topics were coming and how to address them. This wasn't a Tim Russert grilling.
He was never going to give real answers to real questions in a town hall that included every front-line schlub and production assistant from Anaheim to Shanghai and back again. In a company this size, this was essentially a public event open to the entire universe. It was designed to calm nerves and appease people who might be swayed by this sort of thing.

Hey I'm glad you enjoyed it. To me it really bothered me seeing my childhood favorites act this way. But at the end its up to everyone whether they like something or not.

I wish I enjoyed it and of course everyones opinion is different and there is no right or wrong.
You can tell the ST failed because Star Wars people aren't on here arguing about the NEW characters. If they had succeeded, there would be 20 posts about whether Rey should have married Chewbacca or whatever.

Luke was turned into a bitter old space hobo sucking on an alien cow's teats. Han was killed off by his own son. Leia pulled a Force move that made her fly like Tinker Bell In Space.

Disney destroyed Star Wars by deliberately making the old characters look pitiful, so that the new characters would be more appealing by comparison. A very cynical, manipulative, condescending move that ultimately pretty much failed. And Iger owns that. Some legacy, huh?
…sometimes I feel like I must have been concussed when I watched them? At least what I could tolerate before I walked out 😎

So just in Orlando, Iger has to get a deal done with the WDW Unions, Reedy Creek dissolves in June, unless he makes friends with Gov. DeSantis and the Republican state legislature and he gets to decide who is moving to Florida with the Lake Nona deal. Sounds easy enough.

???

No he didn't. He was asked about selling parts of the company (or the whole company), he was asked about making an acquisition, he was asked about layoffs, he was asked about hiring freezes, he was asked about Park Pass, he was asked about the Florida move, he was asked about Reedy Creek, h

Those are the opposite of softballs.
Yeah I was actually shocked by what he was being asked of. Was ready for softball questions but came out satisfied

I didn’t come away from the sequel films feeling anything negative towards Han or Luke. Both were, to my mind, presented as positive characters. It’s clear that you and others feel differently, and that’s your prerogative, but I think it’s important to understand that your take isn’t some self-evident or objective truth.
A certain (large) segment of fans just want Empire made over and over and over again. Any kind of character growth or attempt to move the story forward (even developing ideas Lucas had been developing since the OT) would have upset certain fans.

Again, many Star Wars fans don’t like Star Wars.

It’s a big reason it’s so much more fun to be a fan of Marvel and the MCU even though I love a lot of Star Wars.

This is an absolutely insane, conspiratorial view and the number of folks who buy into it show just how many SW fans have completely detached themselves from reality. Disney did not intentionally “sabotage” the characters Iger spent billions on, one of the key acquisitions of his legacy.

The funny thing is, this isn't true. None of it.

They were ALL predictable ?s that he 100% had to know was coming which in turn meant he already had his answers & statements prepared to make
Oh interesting you watched it live? No? Didn't think so.

Complain about Iger's business decisions all you want but he is exceptional at this particular skill. Fielding questions, speaking off-the-cuff in a natural way, knowing what to say and what not to say, walking fine lines. To argue otherwise exposes blind animosity and a refusal to debate things honestly.

The pressure is really on to pass a Reedy Creek replacement because if they do nothing, the debt falls onto local governments and taxpayers and DeSantis already promised that wouldn't happen. The Lake Nona move is now 3+ years away and could be used as a bargaining chip in the Reedy Creek talks. I don't see the union contract being a major obstacle, negotiations have been progressing for months and there's no threat of a work stoppage or even major bad PR for Disney at this point.

I would never deny that at all. Ive even posted before how he knows how to speak & talk to the public in a special way etc hence one of the reasons Wall St loves him.

But to say the questions you mentioned where “shockers” to me is false. M

Side note both statements can be true that he is a great speaker and the questions yiu mentioned he was well prepared for….
