Bob Iger in HS

It's no an unreasonable idea. According to the RCID Comprehensive Plan, the area west of DHS is one of the prime locations for resort expansion...

"During the next 10 years, the District’s development will be directed to those areas identified as suitable in the above analysis. The largest areas of suitable land are located west of Animal Kingdom, between World Drive
and I-4 between Osceola Parkway and US 192, around Lake Mable, north of the Magnolia Golf Course, east of the Magic Kingdom parking lot, and west of Disney’s Hollywood Studios."

For DHS they could move parking and back stage buildings across the street and provide access via tunnel or bridge, this would free up room around the park for expansion.
That would make a lot more sense. I think I just keep envisioning splitting the park in half, world drive between it, at least with what I've seen from posts discussing it.

True. But they did have a big press conference, loaded with media.

Any media presence at DHS today?
If not....

New media will be at the D23 Expo would be my assumption.

I can't believe I missed this entire thread.

It is Lucy inviting Charlie Brown to kick the football every time.

If nothing substantial gets announced at D23, I am dropping out and moving to New Zealand.

How exactly does one expand a theme park across seven lanes of highway?

The land across World Drive is listed as an official expansion pad for DHS and has been mentioned in Reedy Creek documents as potential expansion specifically for that theme park.

I am not an expert in highway construction and design, but an obvious detour would be via Buena Vista Dr, and simply removing said section of roadway and rerouting traffic via an expanded Buena Vista Dr.

I like this line of thinking. We can call Iger and crew a lot of things, but they aren't stupid when it comes to making money from a sure thing. As far as a guaranteed return, Star Wars at DHS is probably the next closest thing to DVC.

As far as the 6 years for Avatar at AK goes, it's apples and oranges. AK had large expansion plots and they can very, very slowly start clearing ground and build without impacting the rest of the park. DHS has no realistic expansion areas unless they build out into the parking lots. The lots need to be expanded if you plan to bring in more guests so they need more parking, not less. Most likely they would be closing some or all of the following: Backlot tour, LMA and Indy stunt show. If they do this they are taking away huge people eating shows and attractions that are suitable for all ages. Many consider DHS a half day park already. Take away 2 or 3 attractions for 6 years and the place will be hurting. It's my pixie dust laced, overly optimistic opinion that whatever they build at DHS (Carsland, MI coaster or Star Wars) it will be built in half that time and open before Avatarland. Possibly as early as end of 2016.
The way I see things if D23 holds anything for DHS is this: Animation Courtyard re-theme to Pixar Place, Arial re-placed with Toy Story musical, MI coaster and facade rebuild-this could be completed in a 2-3 year gradual period which would slowly draw guest in while Disney works their Avatar magic. A Star Wars Studios by Echo Lake could also happen after Pixar.

I'd like to see the animation building be reimagined to tell the Walt Disney story. The courtyard could be used to house attractions from his legacy. Then the old sound stage where the Walt stuff is now could be incorporated into Pixar Place.

I like the rest of your ideas.

Thanks, I always thought that for Walt they should expand into the backlot and expand Tower of Terror street to lead in to a huge new building that is a replica of the original Disney Studio and have all the Walt stuff there.

@InsideTheMagic: "Time to head out to Disney's Hollywood Studios. I expect fireworks to be the most exciting thing tonight. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong."

Please make a "Leave Ricky alone" video!

Leave Ricky alone. He tried to quell everyone's excitement about the announcement while still doing his job by going to DHS just in case. He's a Disney fan, just like the rest of us and he wants to see Disney make their next big move, just like the rest of us.

Problem is, Tower extends further out to the left than you'd expect. They'd also have to retheme the entire backside of the tower.

To add to this, turn the Animation building into a Great Movie Ride-esque attraction based on Disney's animation history and utilizing films that haven't really gotten their own rides before.

Disney created this monster... Disney needs to be held responsible no matter what people on here think... There are no ethics with wanna be journalists... No ethics in social media... no ethics amongst bloggers (not all, no, but a good majority who are looking to ride the waves of someone else's success because they are too stupid to find success themselves)...

You are all relentless haha, now I'm sorry I tried to defend one of my main sources of Orlando theme park news. But that's fine, I understand why some of you would be upset with him and other Disney bloggers, getting our hopes up like they did.
