First...the problem for many is the EMOTIONAL tie to Disney....something Walt fashioned to an Art and he was the Master. He created magical characters that to THIS DAY reign supreme. Those of us that had parents take us to WDW or Disneyland, or sit and watch Walt back in the day or grow up on his movies developed the attachment that Walt wanted....to take us Where Dreams Come True and Let Imagination be your Guide. We have watched for well over 10 years to see WDW ignored on the creative process. This has nothing to do with Infrastructure or behind the scenes....Walt said WDW would never be finished because of the Imagination.....but under Iger there has been NO IMAGINATION.....he has riden the Cable, Movies and Media bandwagon to the detriment of the Parks.

Remember people over those years Iger lost the ATTACHMENT....many people simply have no desire to go to WDW because NOTHING IS NEW....wrist bands, parades and shows are NOT what develop attachments.....and Iger has had his butt handed to him as other parks and venues leave Disney in the boredom syndrome. Sorry that is what has driven long time Disney fans crazy. THERE HAS BEEN NO REASON FOR IT!!!! PERIOD.

So enough with the behind the scenes spending and garbage....NO....Iger built DVC, wrist bands, shows and other items that mean little in LEGACY ATTACHMENT. He lost a generation......he knows he needs to spend and spend big!

Yes. Yes a million times!

"Spend and spend big"....yes, but unfortunately, a lot of it's going on stuff Walt and his company didn't create, so it's not being spent on The Legacy, so boo.

But that's exactly what happened with New Fantasyland, isn't it? It was announced, lots of concept art and attractions confirmed, then completely changed, sliced and diced during construction. The Mine Train, which itself got chopped up, wasn't even in the plans when they were first announced.
I wonder, in hindsight ... how much of the change had to do with the hand off between Rasulo and Staggs ... because doesn't Rasulo have girls, in which case all the pixie hollow stuff made sense ... and Staggs I believe has boys ... which was why the mine train returned and the meet and greets were scrapped ... of course I could be completely wrong.

I dont think #3 would cause TWDC company to go poof. They will probably just sell some assets that they think are disponsable.

Would the parks go? The DCL? ESPN?

IF the 'books' are a fantasy then pretty much everything would be sold off, Remember that MOST of ENRON's businesses (most of which were profitable on their own) are still around under new owners, Its only the HQ operation which went away.

Or we have some rumors that are corroborated by several different sources that will either come to fruition or not.

Repeatedly, and I mean at this point dozens of times, stating that you personally don't believe it is going to happen isn't going to change the outcome.

So maybe your opinion could sit a few plays out and let other folks have a turn?

The converse is also true, time will tell which opinion is correct.

Yet I imagine we're still going to have a bunch of doom and gloom era complaining about the lack of projects.

For a benchmark of what would be nice, look at how much was opened between 1990 and 2000 across the resort: a water park, a whole new park, new parades every year, several new hotels, a whole nighttime district, new major attractions in every park, new fireworks shows, two big expansions at DHS...

If 2010-2020 brings us just as much as that, then I'm sure no-one on this forum will have any problem eating their words.

It's looking like 2021 is the year to go to Disneyworld.
1. Avatar
2. Night time show at AK.
3. Possible new show at Epcot
4. Frozen ride at Epcot.
5. Imagination remodel again....maybe?
6. Star Wars land
7. Pixar land
8. I'm sure a new nighttime show at MK
9. Update to Peter Pan?
10. 3 billion being spent over the next 6 years is impressive.

Who knows what else will be spruced up for the 50th celebration.
Yea, it's great. I'll be 73 then... can't wait to almost see the stuff.

Is it to much to ask for a beautiful omnimover ride through the history of animation (especially Disney animation) to replace the art of animation building? Imagine riding through a zoetrope!!! The ride truly could be beautiful, and it would be a much needed people eater for the park.

This is a fantastic idea. They could even sell it to the synergy folks by having a preview center or M&G related to the latest/upcoming film at the end.

And when they did do that (i.e. Snow White Mine Train) all that came out of it were complaints that it wasn't long enough, wasn't fast enough and was a kiddie ride. What makes you think that legacy stuff would currently be accepted by the public at large. Maybe some "time warp" fans, sure, but, there are very few people that feel that same way. Walt has been dead for almost 50 years, new things are needed. New IP, currently owned by Disney is today's version of future vintage attractions and many of them will be. Mickey can only live so long in anyone's emotions. There was one Walt Disney and we have all benefited from his existence for many years beyond the length of time that any of us will be remembered. We are at least 3 generations past his lifetime.

And if One Man's Dream gets axed (grrrr) then some of it could even be repurposed in some scenes. Heck, make it a ride through Disney history, through Walt's life, and beyond.

Ain't gonna happen. I doubt we will see any lengthy omnimover rides any time soon, if ever. If I recall correctly, at least part of the reason JII, WOM and Horizons were killed was because guest surveys told them that people thought these attractions were too long. And yet Energy endures at 45 mins or whatever it is.

And Star Wars is "new"? ;)

I understand perfectly why it's going in DHS, and I certainly understand (and applaud) the inclusion of Pixar (in fact, that Pixar area back there is pretty pathetic. There needs to be more). But it's Disney's magic that keeps people coming to WDW and Disneyland, and why they're still preferred to Universal, despite Uni's stellar offerings. That's what I mean by The Legacy. People still respond to Walt's philosophy and to the values he built into his films. Those will never grow old. A good example of that is the continuing popularity of Peter Pan's Flight. A primitive dark ride that ALWAYS has a packed queue. That's because, I believe, it has that spark of Disney magic that people remember and desire. That's what they're craving when they go to a Disney park, so, I think the way to draw even more people into the parks is the put more Disney in them. There should be a Pride Lands in AK, not Avatar. And a Disney Villains area in DHS would probably be more popular than any Star Wars feature.

But oh well, Iger bought the Star Wars IP, so into DHS it goes. :p

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the new Transformers ride at Uni the same ride system, vehicle, and layout as the Spiderman ride.
Very much wrong!

An innovative, different two story layout with 4 high speed elevators that are very well hidden.

Ride system is the same. And very good it is too. Disney could have surpassed it if they'd continued pushing the EMV development.

As much as I love the Disney Villains I think you're drastically underestimating the popularity and appeal of Star Wars in this case.

Not that I entirely disagree with the general gist of your post, I agree that there is a place for the older Walt-era classics in the parks and that they remain a draw today. I've absolutely no interest in Avatar myself so I'd love something like a Pride Lands at AK, or anything featuring the classic Disney films set in the animal world that I think have been wrongly overlooked for the park, but if Disney have hit the jackpot with Star War at DHS. Outside of that I'd be perfectly happy for everything at the resort to be Disney, Pixar or original attractions but I'm struggling to see what Disney could do that could generate the level of interest and excitement that I think Star Wars will when its official.
