I hate to disappoint you but if the person who told you there was a big announcement coming is the same one that passed on the hat myth to you, it's almost certain they really don't know anything at all and there may not necessarily be an announcement coming. It's certain there will be an announcement at some point whether it's soon or not we will just have to wait and see.

I have a question. Now, when Anna makes the big FLE announcement, will she go straight to a press release or will she be calling the OP with the info first? That wasn't clear.

Can anyone explain to me the purpose of tearing someone's excitement down? How many of you weren't as excited when you first REALLY got into Disney's comings and goings? I mean it seems like there are people just making comments to be hurtful. The rumors stated here are supposed to be about the happiest place on Earth. Yet some of the "elite" posters here make it the crappiest experience to get excited for. I mean honestly. You want to berate this kid because he enthusiasm got the best of him? I see a lot of "elite" posters who have obviously grown bitter over being members of message board for 5 plus years and wasting countless hours and posts (some more than 6,000). Either you are bitter for all the time you wasted or you are just a mean person inside with no other way to express yourself. Do I think the Title is a little overzealous, sure. Do I think the OP deserved the treatment he got. Not in the least bit. Three quarters of the responses to this particular post are the exact reason why posters like Raven and Lee and whoever don't divulge info. You don't think that they want to spill the beans? I mean if they work for Disney and they spend time on THIS SITE, do you think they want to make a friend. No. They have info. They want to spill something to get people jazzed, but they don't because the majority of the "ELITE" posters just crap on people's parade. I mean some people here are criticizing this OP for being excited and all they have done in the last 9 months is figure out when the urinal cakes are being replaced and that they intend to paint a wall. Good for you.

Information is not divulged because it will get people in trouble and stop the flow of information.

You have to understand, people, that hearing people announcing baseless rumors, or even more annoying, repeating urban legends that won't die, gets really old. And after the thousandth time, we have to make a little fun out of it by bringing up Rhonda Kendall, king louie's jungle cruise, DWI's and so on.
To the OP, sorry if you took the comments to heart, but here's a rule of thumb for now on- this is the internet. Don't take it personally. Don't feel discouraged about posting info or opinions, but expect a reaction similar to this if you don't have a reputation as an insider. :wave:

I'm not bitter in the least bit. Just discouraged with the number of "fans" who felt it necessary to take excitement from one person and crap on it and jam it in the OP's face. The funny thing is. First of all, I don't see a real flow of information. People here get all up tight about information. If someone with less than 1,000 posts gives it, red flags go up, but if you have been here a while everyone believes you for the most part. I mean people have stated it before that, even in this thread, that Disney intentionally gives out misinformation to get people excited. What does it matter if an "insider" divulges information. If a big ride or a new park or a new toilet is being installled at WDW, it shows up in the permits. You just have to know where to get information. So if Raven came out tomorrow and said Mythical Creatures at DAK starts construction in two months, the flow of info would stop? No, it would just take some one else the time to check the permits board. I think it would be noticeable. I just kind of thought that if someone heard a rumor, anywhere, from anyone, that this was the place to put it. Or am I wrong in thinking that people are allowed to put rumors here? Unless you are in the cliq!

Insiders are just that, they have a connection on the inside that has access to information that is not public and will likely not be public for some time. It is more than just looking over public records. The reason it matters if information is divulged is because if only a few people are supposed to know that information it is not hard for Disney to find the leak.
The reason being around is so important is because the internet provides a means of saying anything. I can say that Disney will be tearing down City Hall to replace it with a new E Ticket, but why should people just believe me? People would believe me if I had a history of being right about stating what would happen. It is true beyond just message boards into everything. Its why a new mechanic or doctor or hair dresser or architect or contractor, etc is going to have a hard time starting up a business, because their is no reputation from which to build and show oneself's abilities.

This is why this thread won't die. You don't know this. The woman you spoke to doesn't know this. People are trying to tell you all you got was canned responses, and you refuse to believe it.
Would you like to hear my BIG WDW NEWS? I spoke to someone at Guest Relations about the poor quality of some of the longhouses at the Polynesian. I was promised it would be addressed. Know why I didn't post it here? Because it was BS. People have been complaining to Disney about that issue for years and keep getting the same response from "guest relations", and nothing ever changes.
As someone else said, if you're going to post a thread titled "Big WDW News", you'd better expect some disappointment and backlash when you post nothing.

Agreed with everything you said. People get so excited about things and these "Fans" are rude and ruin any excitement for anyone. Yeah, it's a discussion board. You can argue the threads started and say you doubt the things people say. But do these folks have to be A-holes about? Some really tough people out there, talking down to someone and name calling on a discussion forum. Yikes.

Did Steve get a whole bunch of new Mods on this site because there seem to be plenty of people chiming in that seem to think they are more qualified to say who is bullying and what's appropriate on these threads than the current Mods...who by the way haven't chimed in so we must not be misbehaving too much in their eyes.
Some people really take sarcasm and cynicism WAY out of context!
