I’m aware. I probably should’ve phrased it better, but those were two separate statementsA story is not a measure of height.

Not to mention the immense flexibility they would've had today even as opposed to what they did in '94. All they did there was fill in the sunken levels and slap some paint over the existing interior structure. The modern overhaul of East took the entire thing, dedicated utility and all, and completely started over. Back to the bare bones structure, not a single interior wall or ceiling of a guest space remaining. Same could have and would have been done with West. They were essentially convention centers, designed for open spaces and easy upgrades. You could easily clear them out like they did with CC to Innoventions and Innoventions to Creations because they were designed that way.
Total spine cost. Was the other building going to cost $700 million?!?
The real story was the friends we made along the wayA story is not a measure of height.
Really interesting how cheaper things like animatronics, basic maintenance and painting in some areas all get budget cuts, while a project that destroyed half of functional and historic buildings, plus needed a huge investment and closure of a big part of the park, got approved.Total spine cost.
From the world's largest barstool, to the Amazon fulfillment center in the northeast corner of the park, from the 4 year long dirt pushing exercise to the mistake on the lake... Whether you like something, hate something, whether it got built or got cancelled, you can't claim wise financial stewardship has been practiced in EPCOT.Really interesting how cheaper things like animatronics, basic maintenance and painting in some areas all get budget cuts, while a project that destroyed half of functional and historic buildings, plus needed a huge investment and closure of a big part of the park, got approved.
Just shows how this mess was a vanity project of Iger...
This is nothing special. Every time steel erection starts people get all excited because of how quickly visible changes take place. The top of this image was 12:17 pm, the bottom is 5:03 pm, both taken today. They managed to get all the white beams installed on the east side.

Definitely zooming on this project. 2 weeks ago we had no steel whatsoever, only service stairways.
This is true, but my excitement was more so pointed in the direction of the fact that *something* is happening. Anything is something these days. This is nothing special. Every time steel erection starts people get all excited because of how quickly visible changes take place.
I was scrolling back through this thread trying to remember what this project was even supposed to be. And I stumbled about this post. They couldn’t even build one ride for $350 Million, I can only imagine how much this astroturf, splash pad & rebuild of an existing building is going to cost at the endFor $350M, we hopefully would see 2 new rides out of it for Epcot, which I think the park needs.
Is there a chance any of this is open by next summer?
