Sensitive, aren't we? I'm just making the point that you can still enjoy your visit. Many on this forum pine for the good old days and certainly give the impression they're completely miserable and will never be satisfied. I wish the Fountain of Nations were still there and would love to have Imagination 1.0 back but I put in the attitude of enjoying my trip this past week and that's what I did.

I edited my post, but yes, I sometimes get annoyed because some comments on here have a tendency to turn people into a hive mind -- like if I say something negative, then I must believe/agree with 100% of anything said by anyone else who has a negative comment, which is never remotely true. We're all different people with different opinions.

But then I realized you probably weren't directing that at me specifically and just happened to be quoting my post to make your point.

I definitely agree there are some people on here who seem like they only exist to attack every single thing that Disney does, which just feels... exhausting. If things have gotten that bad from your POV, why are you even still paying attention to Disney at all?

I can't imagine choosing to go through life this way. Everyone else is automatically wrong and stupid if they don't 100% conform with my opinion. It's such an insanely close-minded way to experience the world; you're missing out on so much.

It's bizarre, too, because based on some of your other posts I know you're not one of them but it's what I'd expect to hear from people who love a certain political figure.

Plus, how could you even know if it's overrated if you didn't experience it?
I could say the same about some of y’all who do nothing but moan and complain about how awful WDW has become. This has been one of the best trips I’ve ever had to the resort in recent memory, and I’ve been going since 1996. Anyone who dares offer a counterpoint is automatically shut down. The narrative is that if you don’t hate WDW you’re a shill. So I’m just doing the same thing yall do. The medicine doesn’t taste so good when it’s forced back on you does it? 🤔

At the end of the day none of this really affects my life or yours lol, so I don’t know why I let my passion and love for WDW come off as if I’m a brainwashed cult member

I guess I have to spell it out (not for you, because you understood the point, this for others): The technology to do something well beyond what Disney did at Epcot has existed for years and has been used in residential light displays.

If people think the minimal effort that Disney put into the lights at Epcot is impressive, please watch your step so you don't trip over that very, very low bar. Bob and Josh thank you for your continued support.
You’re responding to things I didn’t say. Someone said the light display you shared was hideous. You shot back that it’s foolish to think that a show that “blows away” Disney’s is hideous. I assumed you meant on a technical level, which means that you’re discounting the fact that they were probably only talking about aesthetics.

Why are you so angry and obsessed?!

Just relax and go experience all of the exciting attractions and experiences in the Imagination! pavilion and enjoy!

Absolutely remarkable!!!

Best Epcot ever!!!
Don't you mean all the exciting up-charges and activations? Get with the times, man! ;)

No one, and I mean NO ONE, is wishing for 1982. We are NOT against change. We ARE against change for change's sake. We are against lowering standards and expectations while forking over $150/day for a lesser experience. Holding Disney to the standards THEY THEMSELVES CREATED is not a bad thing, but slamming those that do and then having the gall to claim "things are better than ever!!!" with your context being the last decade is just obtuse. There are many more nuances to the conversation but that's a starting point.

I'm glad you had a great time. I enjoyed my trip this past week as well and took in a lot of the holiday atmosphere. I wanted to enjoy Luminous more but that was because of the cold, windy weather, not the show itself. Regardless, it's the best show SINCE Illuminations (not better than, though).

Oh great, you’re still there!

Swing by the Wonders of Life pavilion and resort back on all of the attractions and shows!

Be interested to hear your thoughts!

I think I sense a lot of sarcasm and being facetious from EpcotFan.

You were correct. I have nothing against what you said. I was talking on a technical level, but apparently inference and critical thinking is lost on many here.

The second part of my post was not a response to him. He and I are having some fun (I hope!). :)
We absolutely are!

For all the talk of “wallowing in misery” all I see here is people enjoying openly mocking those with low standards and expectations and for having absolutely no perspective on Disney’s once industry leading position in the industry!

I can agree EPCOT doesn't hold up to the standards it used to have. I can also agree it's in better shape than its been in a long time. Certainly not "better than ever". That's impossible and will never be achieved again.

It sure has been a chilly and windy week for us too. Glad it’s warming up for the last few days of our trip! It was my first time back at WDW during Christmas since 2019

See my post above regarding grouping a bunch of different people together as though they are one person who all believe the same thing.

They have made plenty of changes I don't love (I'm not saying all change is bad, though), and I did enjoy three of the four parks more overall in an earlier version of their existence than their current version (DAK is the only park that I think is the best it's ever been right now -- and while I wish they'd keep dinosaurs, I'm on board with the Tropical Americas change if they stick with that), but that doesn't mean they're bad now. Even if I only enjoy it 80% (just a random number) as much as I did in the past, I still enjoy it. If I thought it was awful, I wouldn't go at all!

I also recognize that it's all subjective. The original EPCOT attractions were significantly better than their replacements to me, but that doesn't mean they were objectively better or that anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. If you think EPCOT is the best it's ever been right now, that's great! And I legitimately mean that, even if I personally disagree.

I wish I could find the GIF of Walt and John Hench with some wording on it about Epcot. It would be very appropriate right now. ;) (I have a copy of the original picture, but not of the one I want to post)

some of you all take this stuff WAY too seriously lol. I dont live in FL and dont visit daily/weekly/yearly its more of an every 2-3 years for me, so maybe im not as jaded to the fl parks as others but I like what theyve done to Epcot. Looks way better than it was in the last 15ish years ive been going, and ill def be back next year to see it all when the last walls come down and communicore plaza opens.

I will also say 2 years ago when me and gf went to FL we spent 5 days at the park, but only 2 Disney Parks and the rest were Universal because we had never been to them before. We will probably go to IoA and Volcano Bay again because they are great parks imo and then spend a couple days at Epcot, AK, and MK

Lighting and railing have been installed in the area near the Imagination Pavilion - photos from today.

Here's another look at the lighting from the bridge leading to World Showcase.

Do we have any "before" pictures or was this all originally grass? I can't recall what this area used to look like but I think the work that's being done looks quite nice so far. Really like those light fixtures.
