News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

It would certainly set a precedent for thematic inconsistency....Communication, land, sea, motion, space, imagination, and your favorite sci-if blockbuster!!!!! Once they do that, there's no stopping them from putting a Zootopia attraction in Liberty Square.

I agree to an extent; but I also don't think it is a far stretch to space/imagination/"FUTURE".
Especially if the exterior can help fit with the new idea / image / update of Future World.

Nah, Zootopia's gonna be the basis of a Splash Mountain overlay

Wrong.

I believe I first broke the news that GotG is replacing Splash (nice to steal my scoop and peddle it as your own, you're no better than Click-Bait Corless). Things are changing though. We must have differing sources. Maybe SAR forced the Bobs to reconsider using GotG on Splash as the CCP has stolen Marvel from TWDC's IP library and held for ransom in face Iger ever shows his face in China again. This of course all contingent on whether or not Iger dissolves the company due to ESPN's woes and sells it off piecemeal to the highest bidder.

I hear Spain, depending on whether Gigantic does well in 2018. and a boat ride for the attraction.

Spain seems to tick all the right boxes for an American audience: Western Europe, familiar language, familiar culture, familiar food and drinks.

I could be wrong.

Meh... I love Spain dearly, but at that point they should probably just rename the place Western Europe Showcase. You could get 90% of those same qualities with a South American country.

I can't imagine Disney would get much help from Spain itself though… Isn't the economy still in a shambles? Last I heard they hadn't even agreed upon a functioning government yet...

I would be fine with it if the announcement for it included a statement from Disney saying "ok we give up, Epcot didn't work. Now it's time for something completely different!"

Flower and Garden was and is a good festival I love doing it every year but even with these festivals the park needs new life to keep people in it. A revamped future world will only make these festivals more profitable.

It's sad to see how far EPCOT has fallen - Future World was never about a vaguely "future"/science fiction aesthetic alone. This kind of statement will be the only justification given for Guardians placement in Epcot - and it isn't enough.

Now it's time for something completely different, something exactly like all the other parks in Orlando!"

FTFY ;)

Sorry, I'm a little bitter! ;)

Has anyone else seen the TV special about the opening of EPCOT Center hosted by Danny Kaye? I'm assuming it premiered on ABC, NBC OR CBS. It's a real hoot. Nice to see Future World with such a nice, new sheen. I highly suggest checking it out. It's on YouTube.

My family recorded it on VHS when I was a kid (4 years old) as my dad worked there at opening. I watched that video probably 30 times back then.

As annotated in the clip info on U-Tube.

Which is why I would suggest Mexico should be expanded into a Latin America Pavilion and Norway should be Scandinavia. (Though that won't make Frozen fit any better)

Any word on when the cosmetic changes start? Future World is one big mass of ugly with that kaleidoscope of colors. Just awful. Who approved that? Between the mix of colors, the ugly tarps and tombstones out front ... it's a disaster.
The current state of Future World's Central Spine is the result of 20 years of questionable Art Direction decisions by different Imagineering teams building on top of each other over the span of two decades culminating in what you see now. That being said while I look forward to seeing what they do to improve it but the aesthetic stuff really does not matter if the actual substance is compromised as I strongly believe will happen with this Re-Imagining.
