Has anyone else seen the TV special about the opening of EPCOT Center hosted by Danny Kaye? I'm assuming it premiered on ABC, NBC OR CBS. It's a real hoot. Nice to see Future World with such a nice, new sheen. I highly suggest checking it out. It's on YouTube.

Yup. And there are stories out there about how Danny Kaye acted like a diva during the shoot and was a huge pain in the *ss to work with.

Any word on when the cosmetic changes start? Future World is one big mass of ugly with that kaleidoscope of colors. Just awful. Who approved that? Between the mix of colors, the ugly tarps and tombstones out front ... it's a disaster.

That is so true...that mishmash of paint colors is terrible and undermines the clean futuristic lines of the architecture...I hope "The Future" is not just a bad paint job...

It really is terrible. I mean, I've seen the colors in person before this week, but I just couldn't get over how absolutely ugly it all is when put together. EPCOT deserves better.

I look at what they did to Discovery Island at Animal Kingdom, maturing the color scheme, and just can't believe these parks are run by the same people.

it was a completely tone-deaf idea... It is garish and ugly and does absolutely nothing to accentuate the monumental architecture...It looks out of place, badly conceived and random.

Ok, most people agree that Universe of Energy needs to go and be updated. Many would love to see Horizons come back. Many, like myself, are not thrilled about GOTG possibly going in there ( love the movie though). Not sure if this has been mentioned before but if you look at the old Horizons sign, it's very similar to the shape of UOE from above. It would be great if they turned UOE into a new modern day Horizons but keep the current vehicles as part of a tour about the future.

Yeah, no doubt that a GOTG ride would be pretty awesome, but like others have said, it's a flavor of the moment. In 20 years, or probably less, it will be tired and non relevant. Please Disney, build us something that will stand the test of time and remain a classic.

Anyone know if the the Mission Space update will have a Star Wars theme? Asking due to the IP infusion being discussed often by insiders.

I believe I first broke the news that GotG is replacing Splash (nice to steal my scoop and peddle it as your own, you're no better than Click-Bait Corless). Things are changing though. We must have differing sources. Maybe SAR forced the Bobs to reconsider using GotG on Splash as the CCP has stolen Marvel from TWDC's IP library and held for ransom in face Iger ever shows his face in China again. This of course all contingent on whether or not Iger dissolves the company due to ESPN's woes and sells it off piecemeal to the highest bidder.

I had never googled the way Epcot's pavillions looked on opening day and the following years.
I just did it.

Oh Disney. What have you done to this park.

All people need to do is educate themselves on what Epcot used to be and they'll instantly know why what's going on now gets so knocked by fans of the park. It's not so much about 'living in the past'. There's also no reason Horizons and original Journey into Imagination aren't still around and updated. They should be as classic as Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Spaceship Earth, etc.
