Big changes at the Studios Rumors

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
This is big?

"We're hearing that—in conjunction with the upcoming Toy Story 3 (coming to theaters on June 18)—the balloon pop game will be changed from Bo Peep and her sheep to Rex and Trixie (the triceratops from the new movie), and will feature a jungle/volcano theme. There is reportedly also some additional scoring information that will be presented to you at the conclusion of the game."

OK
:animwink:

Well tyrannosaurus are pretty large

Because the changes to Toy Story Midway Mania only involve changing out computer programs, it is expected that the modifications will be made overnight, and the attraction will simply close one day with the old game and reopen the next day with the new game. That will be very impressive, and will likely indicate that Imagineering will similarly be able to implement seasonal overlays for the attraction overnight.

That would be kinda cool.

*IF* Aremosmith leave that is. Certainly hope that is not the case.

I wouldnt say it's any reaction to Potter either. Game changes to TSM were planned all along, so no surprises there.
Right! I remember hearing at the beginning of 2009 from a source that TSM would be getting holiday layovers. This has been planned/in the works probably since the attraction's inception.

If Da Smiths are going surely someone would have had to have filmed a scene to replace it with, given the lack of rumours the positive would be that its not going to happen and the doomsday would be one of Disneys current swathes of talentless teen show performers.

TSM changes could be good though.

Well Miley Cyrus' contract with disney is up when she turns 18 which is august sooo, that just leaves jonas, demi, and selina, and of those only jonas is recongized enough, but aren't they as a group on a break? Not that I want any of them in rnrc. Plus if aerosmith left they'd have to change wdw, and dlp (I think those are the only two that have that ride).

I was more interested in the lower part of the article that talked about new things coming to the Disney Dream. Interactive artwork that talks to you as you walk by?! Now that sounds like Harry Potter....

These are not really big changes, but still good changes nonetheless. I'm not sure how I feel about the interactive queue over at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but I suppose because I rarely go standby on that attraction I shouldn't worry about it.

If TSMM can get new games installed every year than it will have great staying power, this has to be seen as a positive.

The nature of these games does conflict with the initial reports that were coming out that said the games would be based on Lotso the Bear and Stretch the Octopus. Time will tell I guess.

Pretty huge to consider an e-ticket to be completely changed.
No it will not be completely changed. There is not a huge difference in shooting cartoon darts at a screen vs shooting cartoon potatoes at a screen. If they were to change TSMM into an inverted flying coaster then it would be a complete change.

Aerosmith leaving would be a big deal I think. I was quoting the article as claiming the changes were a big deal. But there does seem to be a lot. No doubt an early reaction to Potter.

And these changes seem very marketable too. :animwink:

If Aerosmith leaves and Disney replaces it with their own band aimed at 13-16 year old girls, they will have made a worse mistake than SGE. HANDS DOWN. TDO is stupid, but they can't be that stupid.

Rock N Roller Coaster...

I'm guessing if they changed HTH into Hannah Montanna Tower of Fun with the same ride system that it may upset people. Why not the same for RnRC?

I heard that the RRC was being re-themed to disney show-stopping musical numbers. Under the Sea, Be our Guest, Lord help the Outcasts, etc. The new movie in the greeting room would be hosted by Crush. Part of the Living Character Initiative.

a shutdown of 5-6 days is not long enough to remove Aerosmith from the ride and replace it with a new theme. I'll just take heart in that part and hope it is just improving the queue and giving it a good cleaning, lubrication, and touch-up paint.

If I was making the decision I'd change the pre-show only. If you remember the original muppet television show they often had guest that played against what was generally thought to be a production for kids but clearly was written to appeal to older demographics. So I could see them refilming the pre-show with the Electric Mayhem Band with Steven Tyler included. Very much in the spirit of The Muppet Show.

By the way, everyone is failing to mention the ToT changes. So, I still think there is a lot going on at WDW this summer. ToT changes, possible changes to RnRC, TSMM and I wouldn't be suprised if they added more Fantastic showings. Plus add Nightastic and the new fireworks, all easily marketed and I think this creates a magnet for potter tourists.

I think if they tried to tout any of the above as an answer to Potter, Team Disney Orlando would be laughed right out of Florida.

I like your idea, hell it doesn't HAVE to be Steven Tyler, it could be any other bunch of artists or bands. The Muppets tie in would be cool.

You can't make it "HANNA MONTANA'S SUPER 17 LIMO RIDE" or "JONAS BROTHERS BFF TOUR" or something, and then have a huge intense coaster as the main experience.

I think if they tried to tout any of the above as an answer to Potter, Team Disney Orlando would be laughed right out of Florida.

I don't think they are; it's Disney fans overreading into stuff.

I thought that happened with Space Mountain? Funny how the big press event and tie-ins quietly dissappeared.

Anyhow, everything in this thread would have been considered normal plussing not that long ago, barely warranting a mention let alone being misunderstood as a big summer draw.

I'm not suggesting it is at all. What it is is a way to capitalize on all the folks heading to O-town but who can't all fit into TWWoHP at the same time or who will want more to do after they do. Disney is creating that option. Brilliantly so I think.
