Beginnings of Tomorrowland Revamp?

But how far are they willing to go in that direction? Would they really ditch all that was put into the look of Tomorrowland '94, or are they just going to paint everything blue, silver and orange?

The last thing I want is a hodge podge of aesthetics. That's what Tomorrowland in California is right now, and it looks awful.

Agreed. Tomorrowland in Disneyland is abysmal. Just a terrible mess of concrete and zero consistency.

You are exactly right. Disneyland's Tomorrowland is a complete mess. Hopefully, the new Tomorrowland Revamp in Disney World will keep that from happening at MK. Is most of DL Tomorrowland that Gold/Bronze? I am not a fan of the steampunk look.

Most of the steampunk look went away. It was so half-done it was a mess to begin with.

There are proposals to sadly remove the Peoplemover track over there as opposed to repurpose it.

Ah...but WDW peeps...let us not get too high and mighty...Tomorrowland at MK isn't anything great either. Last I was there is was also a bunch of concrete with a pile of half-a***d attractions and bird nests...and bird poo...in very noticeable places...of course that was 2015... I've not seen some of the cleanup that's been done since...I'm thinking a revamp on both coasts is widely in order...

Why not just put a Peoplemover back on it? Is there some legitimate reason (besides money) to not restore it? I thought the notions of nostalgia, originality, and "this was Walt's park" were strong forces there?

It's not structurally sound. Rocket Rods did a number on the support columns-particularly near the beginning/end of the ride. They're not "unsafe" just sitting there, but you can't have several tons of weight rolling along up there any more. It's not fixable short of tearing it down and rebuilding- something they're not going to do for People Mover. I'd still love to see what they could do with a powered Vekoma motorbike up there though! Even if Tron wasn't a rousing success, that track up there is begging for something like that as long as they could clear up a few (major) clearance issues.

I think they would have to rebuild the entire system. Imagineering tried to put a Test Track like ride on a structure from the 50s, and it ruined it. It would cost a ridiculous amount of money to fix something that should never have been tampered with.

I think they should remove it. It's just a structure that reminds everyone of what was.

I think a smart idea would be to rebuild it, though, but like the one in FL with the LIMs. People like the Peoplemover. You may not get more turns at the turnstile over it but you'll have, long term, happier folks because of it being there.

The cleanup has actually taken care of most of that.

I loved the 94 revamp of WDW TL, but I'm all in for a return to some of the 70's retro aesthetics as we head into the 50th anniversary. I really hope the land gets all of the love it needs and CoP gets a ton of love in time for the 50th. Including the much discussed but never committed to SM retrack.

I hate to say it but I think they need to just remove it. Seeing as how they'll never spend the cash to fix it and restore it to its former glory, it just sits there reminding everyone of what once was, but has been abandoned.

One of the issues often discussed regarding the PeopleMover not being returned to service, is accessibility and evacuation requirements that would require significant investment. Even if that is the case at a minimum it could/ should be used as a kinetic piece with show elements that whiz by overhead, for example the bubble pods in The Incredibles.

It's particularly bad outside of the main midway in Tomorrowland. When you see it go off into the Monorail/Autopia/Submarines area it's just this decaying "thing" that's out there.

What sucks is the interweaving rides plus all of the foliage and rock work, etc. really is a neat thing in that section of DL. The Peoplemover just added to it.

I believe there are accessibility issues. Plus the Rocket Rods apparently did significant structural damage.
