Beer bottles and gang fights not your thing?

Actually Disney does listen to their guests. Why do you think male Disney CMs don't have longer hair or goatees, or are not allowed to wear earrings....

Granted it may not be what you are talking about, but it does show that Disney does listen.

Are you seriously suggesting that Disneys dress code was inspired by guest requests? I often find myself thinking, my the customer service was great, shame it was spoiled by having it provided by a beardy earring wearer.

No doubt you also believe that guests asked to standardise resort mugs, to cut down on the intrusive street entertainers and to reduce some attractions to seasonal operation.

We had a huge family of 10 decide to line hop at JAWS. We made comments to them and they started cursing at us, blah blah. In the end we reported to them to the ride hostess who contacted park security. When we got off we saw them being talked to and reprimanded.

We talked to the security guard after the family left and told them how they threatened us and he said they had previous problems with the family and if they were talked to one more time, they would be escorted out of the park.

He said for our troubles he would "back-door" us all on MIB.. Which is line cutting also, but who would turn down the opportunity.

As for the "gang fights, rude behavior"; it's pretty clear that Universal and Disney are totally different places to "hang". CityWalk does have the clubs and nightlife, so it just seems logistical that more teenagers, or rowdy behavior would collect around where alcohol is served. I personally have never had real problems with CityWalk and "rowdy" behavior. I do agree that the parking structure is a mess. Especially with the now constant charge to park you think they would keep the escalators on all the time instead of turning them off.

Universal also doesn't have a very good upkeep of janitorial works. Either they are understaffed or do not care about the image OUTSIDE of their parks. On numerous counts I have parked in their parking structure and found that their trashcans are overflowing..

OK done ranting.. :)

Not suggesthing. I'm telling you. I'm a cast member and EVERY manager that I talk to has said that as the reason, even the VP of DHS...

And on the second note, no that would be Disney cutting costs they pay for the mugs, and the crappy economy for the entertainers who went missing this holiday season and seasonal attractions. Why else would Sounds Dangerous stay open then go seasonal late last year?

So you are a gullible sort then? :drevil: Cause us fashionistas know just how popular goatees and earrings were when MK opened, so that they would have been top of a list of must haves for potential CMs.

Do you drive a bus?

It's tough to know where the line between sarcasm and argument lies with you sometimes, Monsieur Snapper, but I'll take a stab. ;)

Disney has definitely had a strict appearance code for CMs dating back to the inception of the parks. How much of it has changed over time because of specific styles cycling into and out of prominence I wouldn't presume to know.

It might very well be the case that male CM's weren't banned from wearing earrings at first, simply because it wasn't common for men to do so in general and thus didn't occur to Disney management as anything they needed to address.

No argument from me, but I thought the point was the specifics of the dress code were made as a result of guest requests?

And I dont know what gives you the idea Im sarcastic

Not requests. In surveys Disney has done, guests said that they would more likely go to a short hair no facial hair (except mustaches of course ;) ) no earing/piercings rather than a long haired male with a beard/goatee and earrings. Hence when the styles over the years change, it does not in Disney parks, resorts and outside the park shops.

Surveys will reveal what the writer of the survey wants it to reveal.

Sounds like a survey written by an Ultra Con with 1930s fixation. Personally Id rather be assisted by a scantily dressed large breasted blonde of easy virtue, but then living on planet Zog Ive never had that sort of survey.

In the years I have been going to both Disney parks and Universal/IOA parks I have never come across drunk and or overly rowdy adults/teens, at least nothing so memorable or offensive that I can remember off the top of my head. I do know someone who WILL NOT go to a Universal park because she doesn't want to so see people walking around with alcohol, I dont know, It just doesnt offend me and I see no real problem with it, it doesnt and hasnt affected me in any way.

Although, I have never been to U/IOA during the halloween time, and because it is geared more twords the older kids (teens +) I can see how it could get a bit out of hand there. I was just there last week and it was calm, nice and everyone was on their best behavior. lol

I did for the first time notice a Universal Cast Member (if they are called that) with a tattoo and It had no ill effect on me, but that might be because I am a tattooed person myself and I work with tattooed musicians all day.
I actually feel more uncomfortable with the CM's who look like they are carved from cream cheese and try to be the perfect 1950's mouseketeer kids.

Outside of HHN you're not going to see people just walking around with alcohol at Universal any more than you do at Epcot.

If you're freaking out about beer being served in a theme park, you're being silly. Stop it, it's a theme park, and the theme park can take care of it if it gets out of line, which it most likely not.

Theme parks can do nothing. Theme parks are inanimate objects.

It's not that so many people are disagreeing with me. Some people equate Universal criticism with being Disney extremist and then blast anyone who dares criticize either company. For example, what's your basis for saying to me Disney does no wrong? I think Disney has its fair share of faults, but that wasn't the point of this post. Why does that threaten you? In my opinion, some in this post are being hyper-protective of both Universal and Disney. Again, I think criticism is productive for both companies. You might disagree, but I don't think criticizing Universal is the same as being a Disney extremist.
Seeing how I go to Universal more than you do and never come across any of these problems except a faulty escalator here and there I say you were just there on an off day. Perhaps the Brazilians were there:hurl:
