Don't give up on getting a dinner seating. Keep checking up until you get there.I wasnt able to get ressies for opur SEPT trip so Ill try the counter service just to get in and see the place

I list Garden Grill as just perfectly fine, nothing more. Boma use to be over the top spectacular, we opened that hotel. When I ate there last year it was dumbed down dramatically, the buffet over crowded for the amount of guests in the dining area, not on my top list and our server didn't deserve to be in that role, he was horrid, I dropped a fork and couldn't find him to get another, finally I went in the outlet just behind where you pick up your buffet plate and got myself another.
Gabe1, your response made me realize that I typed 'Garden Grill' instead of 'California Grill'. Big difference in my opinion. I am with you; Garden grill is just OK, nothing special. I have not been to Boma in a few years, but it was a stand out the last time. We have it on the list next week, so I guess we will see what it has become.
Will do. He will need his big boy pants. LolGiven your choices, I'd go for lunch and turn your husband onto the roast beef sandwich and the concept of big boy pants, but that's just me.
They could have cooked you two new steaks or offered you something more to your liking. Both of out steaks tasted like charcoal... that is something that I doubt they could have done something about. It has to do with WDW lowering their standard because they know everyone wants to eat there.
I agree a server should be regularly be present to assist you with anything you need, but you said yourself that you pick up your own buffet plate and the forks were behind that area. Obviously they were pretty convenient, I don't think it's that big of a deal to go back to the plate area and get another fork. It's not like you had to go back to the kitchen.
Obviously you have not been there. You don't know the difference between the buffet plate area and the off stage servers kiosk where silverware is stored. No, guests are not meant to go out of the dining room to retrieve silverware replacements because their server can't be bothered. It was convenient, it was annoying to wait, wait, have to leave food on table and go out of the dining area to get my own darn fork. Next I should go back stage and refill my own drink?
I will patiently wait for this to turn into a "how poorly servers are compensated financially" discussion...
Funny. My tip alone at Disney Table Service venues certainly bumps their per hour scale up dramatically. Buffet CMs only have to take drink orders and take away plates when table bussers don't. How overwhelming can it be to circle your assigned tables. jeepers.
Your standards are too high! Those poor, poor waiters....practical Disney slaves.

No they are not. And no they are not slaves that is an insult to what real slaves have gone through. My son is a CM and enjoys his work and takes pride in doing his job well. If it is too difficult for a waiter to check on his tables at a buffet or to get a fork, well he is in a role that is over his capabilities.
