YOU ARE LUCKY IF YOU CAN GET IN!
Went twice for lunch last week.... LOVED IT...Quick.. Delicious and Beautiful.. Our food was amazing... would have LOVED to get in for Dinner.... My question would be did you let someone know you did not like it?
My daughter had the French Onion Soup at lunch... a cast member noticed she did not like it and they had her something else within minutes... Personally I believe you need to allow them to correct things if you are not happy ... if they do nothing ... then complain BUT always give them the chance to fix it first. :)
There was 9 of us and every single person did not like the meal we all had different items so I'm not sure complaining would have helped me because I would not have wanted anything else. It is what it is. I won't be back.

We ate at BOG a few weeks ago and we all thought it was great. My family are not picky eaters but our friends who were dining with us are and they also enjoyed the food. I had the steak and thought it was very good but I will say that the fries were salty and I'm a salt lover lol. By the way this was at dinner.

I'm sorry you didn't like it. We had an excellent meal there. I had the shrimp and scallops, as did my mother, and we really enjoyed it. I also had the french onion soup, which was excellent. My father had the mussels and the steak. He let my mother and me steal one of his mussels each, and they were really really good. He said the steak wasn't on par with Le Cellier or anything, but that it was good. We also really enjoyed our desserts. We were considering eating there twice next vacation.

But thank goodness I hate pork chop.

actually, the pork chop was really good.. I gave it to my poor starving son, who got a black steak.. I traded, and could not even eat one bite. it was like licking a grill that hasn't been cleaned in a year. black and dusted with charcoal bits... like they dragged it through the briquettes on a bbq. 4 kids could not eat. 2 that are more kids food types, and 2 that usually eat at signature restaurants at disney exclusively. None of the kids ate their dinners. The only other good meal at the table was the ratatouille, which my husband said was one of the best he'd ever eaten.
I don't like applebee's, either per se- my point was that the average cheap steak there was better than the charred unseasoned meat we got at BOG. I realize they just opened, and disney pays very little starting salaries, so I am sure that the new staff is untrained and unaccustomed to the menu.
My irritation with this, is that they trotted out a major chef and a pastry chef to make us believe this would be a really worthwhile meal.. and it was not.
At least the sparkling wine was great.. and the desserts were lovely.

Wow, I couldn't disagree with the OP more -- I've now dined at BOG twice and the food was superb. Meats were cooked just right, seasoning exactly as it should be. I would venture a guess that the OP probably doesn't like French food...if so, then just don't dine there next time. I had the pork last time and it was superb.
I suppose an evening could be hit-or-miss if something goes wrong in the kitchen, but I doubt it was anywhere near as bad as the OP posts. Sorry you didn't like it -- but your not returning there will leave lots more room for the rest of us. I think its by far the best sit-down dining in the MK, BY FAR.
Not to beat a dead horse, but if you don't like French food don't eat in a French restaurant. Its the same complaint I have about people saying their "steak was awful at Coral Reef" -- really? Don't go to a seafood restaurant and order generic beef dishes.

Our food was not good either, our steaks were VERY over cooked and tasted like charcoal. I don't fosee us going back for dinner again. We were very underwhelmed by the food, the surroundings were awesome.

I think they need to work on consistency from the kitchen, because I have also heard great reviews.

We (4 total, DW + 2 DD + yours truly) ate there twice in December. The first night we ordered 3 steaks, 2 were great 1 was bad. The other meal was pork and it was fantastic.
2nd night we ordered 2 steaks and one of those wad bad...gristle, fat, extra charring. Traded the bad one for another pork chop, and it was fine.
Must point out even the bad steaks were edible, but not up to normal Disney standards.

We experienced hit or miss steaks.....agree with you completely that BoG is, BY FAR, as you say, the best TS at MK. It is a good place to spend a TS credit; we will be back, but probably not until/if the crowds die down a bit.

We need time for things to happen.
I actually believe most of the negative reviews as the comments all seem to be specific and consistent.
With that being said: We have an ADR for dinner this upcoming trip. I just want to see the place for myself sit down have a meal and say "I did it"
I'm going in expecting Applebees in an awesome WDW setting and nothing more.
I may be a sucker, but at least I know what I'm in for.;)

absolutely. everything is always a review with a ;) grain of salt. One cook could suck at steaks. His shifts that week would have awful steaks. The next day, all experts could be on hand. Someone could quit, and the next day a new cook who has never made a pork chop is on. YMMV, no matter what. It's a big park, with a lot of employees. Could just have been new cooks, new equipment, and kinks have been worked out. Good Luck!

You should have sent it back if it was that bad. I've had it happen at Yachtsman before with the steak and they've taken it back and usually they'll drop the cost of the meal too. Even if you eat it, sometimes they'll still drop the cost if you ask to speak to a manager. (Also, one of the few times I went to Applebees when I was little they underdid my chicken strips. Twice. After the second time I told my waiter I didn't trust him anymore. Lol, I was about 5). IDK about the wine (I'm only 18) but I agree on the desserts, though I couldn't eat half of them due to allergies. I picked a lemon one which was really good.

Also, idk about most of the staff, but our waitress was experienced. She had worked at ESPN and Whispering Canyon before transferring over there. So they should have been able to adapt pretty quickly especially since she told us they did about a week of mock serving before opening. And they should probably be making more than the starting salary, especially since they go through more training than, say, the custodial staff.

actually, we sent back 2 meals, and had most of our bill "taken care of". The manager offered to comp all of it.. we only took off the truly inedible meals. we seasoned the others after asking for salt and pepper, and the kids with pasta just didn't eat until the cupcakes.
You seem a little hung up on the applebee's comparison. Just because one person has a good meal, and another's is horrible doesn't make anyone right or wrong. Although, dinner has seemed hit or miss for many. Most I have spoken to with lunch there have loved it.
I was referring to kitchen staff. There is never, ever, ever, any excuse to send a black piece of charcoal to a table and call it a steak (although the waitstaff never should have brought it, either.)

I'm sorry that happened to you. It happens even at premium restaurants such as Yachtsman Steakhouse. An unfortunate reality, but consider giving the place a second chance since it did just open and since every thing else was good.

Ate there Sunday may 26th. John Travolta was eating there as well that night. 8 of us and we tried everything but the hen. It was pretty good. Not amazing but it was tasty. Of course it's about the atmosphere more, but it certainly wasn't terrible food ala 1995 Disney.

. I also find it sad the need to bring alcohol into the MK. If you really need a drink you can get it easily enough by leaving property to other nearby locales. I enjoy the occasional glass of wine or drink but just don't see the need for it in MK.

I don't have any issues with guests having a glass of wine with dinner if they wish. I don't really comprehend the clinging to Prohibition at the MK plus leaving the park and returning is inconvenient and a waste of time. I have not heard of any issues alcohol has caused after dining at BoG, they are not letting guests get tipsy. What is the rub?

We had dinner @ BOG on Christmas Day and the food was just OK. Nothing to rave about, probably not even in our top 5 all time favorites. However, the experience makes up for it. The place is amazing. Definitely recommend the West Wing if available.

If you are looking for good food (esp Italian) in the 'World, hit up Il Mulino. This place doe not ever disappoint. I would also add 'Ohana, Garden Grill and Boma to the list as well.

Finally some honesty. I agree, my steak was awful in Feb. It tasted like charcoal. I don't expect a Ruth's Chris quality steak, but I surely wasn't expecting the over charred think steak I got. We won't go back for dinner that's for sure.

Our server was fine, but nothing special. He was attentive, but being "in character" seemed very forced. Almost like... yes, I have to say this cheesy stuff.

We have been to many restaurants on WDW property and there are only 3-4 I can say I would not return to. Hollywood and Vine (lunch/dinner), Ohana (Breakfast), BOG (dinner), GF cafe (maybe). Heck, I even prefer the food at Chef Mickey's to BOG.
What happened when you sent back your poorly prepared steak?

The OP never said he didnt like French food. You shouldn't assume that. I happen to love French food and found BOG to be very below average. The french onion soup was bland, the steak was grisly and overcooked, the pork chop was TOUGH. I've been there twice because I know that you can have a bad experience one time which might be an off night but we had the same experience both times. Now the restaurant itself is gorgeous but you can have my seat the next time. Third time is not going to be the charm for us.
