So the original GOTG ship The Milano was destroyed in GOTG: Vol.2. The new ship we see in Infinity War is named after another 80s lady....

It’s hard to compare this one to a holiday, schools out, or a week before Christmas timeframe.

Now that you look at it: all those dates meet one of the following criteria:
1. Christmas week - no school
2. Memorial Day - as in actual memorial day
3. Presidents’ Day
4. Summer/July 4 - no school.

Yeah, that's actually really impressive. Not sure why Black Panther isn't considered a holiday, I know I had it off. Then how many people take the week before/after Christmas off? I also have 7/5 off when 7/4 is a Sunday (and again, kids out).

Personally I went and saw it again on Monday. I can honestly say I have not seen a movie twice in a movie theater in at least 25 years (if ever). I thought they might have a tough time living up to that trailer. In the end, they surpassed it in my eyes. This movie deserves every single record it breaks.

I saw force awakens three times ...it was less impressive each time. I saw R1 three as well...got better.

I had not seen a non-kids movie twice in the theater since probably dark knight prior.

So I’ve got two more dates for infinity war set...couldn’t work it out Monday or tuesday but going tomorrow.

It’s just fun.

As usual...I agree with everything else you said 😎. LOL

Numbers like these make me wonder if two MCU movies will get another week in the top 5. Overboard and Tully will probably get some of the I Feel Pretty crowd, and IW will continue to eat into Rampage’s numbers (though along with BP’s numbers). At the very least, BP will get another week in the top 10. Infinity War not getting a boost on Tuesday is what surprises me though. Every other film in the top 5 got a boost, so I hope this isn’t indicative of a trend for IW.

Well...I don’t know if it’s 100% applicable to this week...but typically the Tuesday/Wednesday box is the “adults only” only part of the week.

This Friday and Saturday will really tell the tale...that’s when the repeat market really shows if it’s gonna be a “thing”

It's kind of ridiculous that I can watch Black Panther on a plane and it's still a top 5 theatrical release. No wonder Disney are the only ones strongly against changing the current theatrical window.

Disney was surprised at how well BP was and is doing still. I think everyone was. It almost didn't get made because some thought it wouldn't be well received. So, a plane-movie at 10 weeks? Sure, it certainly wouldn't be strong or have legs, and even if it did, then surely Avengers would kill it off, right? right? The best they could hope for was Ant-Man money.

Comes out on Digital on Tuesday, and there are still over 1000 theaters carrying it after 11 weeks (this will be the 12th weekend). Once the DVD/Blu-ray release date comes around, it’s anyone’s guess. Example- The Greatest Showman came out on DVD on April 10, and it was still in theaters for another 3 weekends (as far as I can find, it has finally left theaters today).

In other news, I found a drive-in in my area that is doing an Infinity War/Black Panther double feature (which I would go to in a heartbeat if I had time this weekend), and since I won’t be able to go to that, I’m hoping for an Ant-Man & the Wasp/Infinity War double feature in July.

Speaking of Ant-Man money, I’m assuming that the sequel will make a decent sum this summer. Unless the Mamma Mia sequel turns out to be a good movie (original is a guilty pleasure of mine, but this sequel is not peaking my interest), AM&W could have the top spot at the box office until Mission Impossible comes out.

Infinity War will probably come out on DVD in August, AM&W in December. Definitely expecting a massive toy push for Christmas of Avengers, Guardians, and Captain Marvel, and then by next year, a collectors edition of Blu-Rays with even more content of all 22 films that made up the first three phases (since they might be getting rid of phases after A4).
