No idea on the Epcot fiber. The gentleman I spoke with over the weekend would be considered a shaky source at best which is why I asked those that would know better. The only reason I even asked it that he explicitly said it was for the Avatar expansion and abruptly stopped.

Unless they know exactly what they are doing; where the paths and buildings are going. No way this is right. Fiber is very expensive and they wouldn't risk tearing it up.

And, apparently, it has passed quietly ... sorta like standing behind a farty tourist in a Disney queue.

So where can you find the giant blue $exy aliens if not at The Timeshare Kingdom of the World (still sans Marvel characters now and forever so long as UNI desires)?

Simple. DSP. Cinemagique.

Sometime, not quite sure when, the best Disney attraction at DSP (that most of you have no clue exists) 'updated' its film clips to include a scene from Avatar as well as scenes from Black Swan, The Incredibles and Toy Story 3. Not sure what was taken out beyond a shot of Mickey and Minnie kissing from one of the old shorts from the 30s or 40s. ... You can decide for yourselves whether this is a good change or a bad one.

Oh, and this shouldn't give anyone false hope that A-land is coming to DAK anymore than that Hulk meet-and-greet at Epcot.

Cinemagique is a great show - one that I had hoped would make its way to WDW. Agreed it is one of the best attractions at DSP - but that isn't saying much, as there are so few original attractions there.

Not surprising it went by largely un-noticed, its addition is comparable to adding a clip to the ending of the Great Movie Ride. A nice touch, but nothing on the grand scheme of things.

Ok...No fan of Avatar in WDW here but think about this.

In the fim for order for humans to exist outside they needed to wear a breathing apparatus on Pandora. What if it were poissible for guests to wear something like this but the glass proviide an augmented reality view? No need for 12 foot tall animatronic Blue people.

Since I knew that the likely hood of them being ready to start construction was small, my BS alarming was going off from the start. However, I have learned to keep my mouth shut, my ears open then dissect the data later when listening to CM's. Most of the info is complete crap but you occasionally strike pay dirt.

That's one of things they did right at AK, there is already a fiber optic network around the whole park. That was one of the first installations. To add fiber for the Pandora area won't be that expensive.

That makes sense. Like I said earlier, I did not put a lot of credibility in what this guy was saying. While it is perfectly logical for Disney to be laying cable on pretty much any day of the week, it's being laid for Avatar was highly dubious.

Sometime last year the word from the mouse house was "Avatar breaking ground late next year". Or something to that effect. They may have said "late 2012". Of course that was probably someone speaking too specifically and that news has since been scrubbed but it came from someone on the inside. I am thinking Iger or Staggs were the source. Or possibly someone from Cameron's team or even TDO.

That all depends. If they open it in phases like they are doing with the FL expansion something might be open by then.

What constitutes a land? Toon Town Fair was considered its own land. While we expect an AVATAR land to be on the scale of the film, it doesn't necessarily have to be such a place.

Based on the numbers being thrown around( of course no real budget has been set), this better be something the scale of Carsland.

And I would hope the main attraction would be amongst the first to open.

All this is complete speculation but if in fact most of this land is enclosed in a showbuilding it would be a much different expansion than FLE where you could open in phases. Although it might be a series of showbuildings...

I would think any fiber for AV-land (meaning permanent), would be pulled through a conduit between two or more points. Since there are no two points built yet, I highly doubt the source.

That being said, a temporary, armored cable could be installed in a shallow trench outside of any proposed building site. Like to supply phone and data to a half dozen or so trailers... hmmmm

Where in AK does anyone think Avatarland will be located? It was said that it best fits the "conservation" theme of the park, so I am wondering how they will incorporate that?
Not a big fan of the idea, but if it brings another "E Ticket" ride to WDW, then go for it!
