DAK AVATAR progress

This video showcases what the Pandora's Box ride system is capable of. This definitely looks like what's in the blueprints and has long been rumored as the ride system. With that said, it does appear that if this is indeed the ride system in use, there will be less physical effects and primarily projection effects on 3D screens.

The building featured four separate "pods" and at first glance, it didn't appear that the "vehicles" could transfer between pods. Perhaps others can expand upon that?

I thought of this type system several years ago. Guess I should have gotten a patent. *sigh*

I'm wondering how much of a path and landscape buildout we're going to see. Everyone's talking about attractions, and not as much about the external "world" of Pandora. The attractions will be more effective if there is a large area of "Pandorean splendor" to walk around in. And--assuming this--lit up with bioluminescence at night. More than attractions, I find myself wanting to stroll around in a place like that . . . .

Totally agree.
I touched on this very subject earlier ...how the REAL *attraction * of this area will not nessesarily be the attractions per say, but the Pandorian landscaping effects and theming. If executed well, this could be fairly impressive and dare i say even mind blowing. THAT in itself will be a real attraction. People will want to experience that for themselves, even if they have never seen the *Avatar* film(s).

It is the one aspect of this whole project idea that i am most excited about. Anyone can have cool rides and attractions...any theme park really these days. Disney excels (or used to...depending on personal opinion) in overall theming of a area, and Pandora is a excellent subject due to the unique appearance. There is nothing like it anywhere out there in any other theme park and it seems to me this in itself would be a draw.

I am pleased to hear recently that the C-ticket is back on track. This makes me happy!
I hope it stays and is not cut for budget reasons.

If I'm reading your question correctly, the axel travels around the so called pods in a giant circle, always looking in.

If you look at the blueprints it looks like the projections are on the outside walls not the inside walls:

I know this doesn't show the seating configuration but it's facing out. It also doesn't appear that there is an easy way for the "vehicle" to travel from pod to pod, it looks like each section (green, blue, yellow, pink) is self contained and just exists on multiple levels.

Well at this point, the new threshold for incredibly thematic elements is going to be a fire breathing dragon on top of a tower. While it hasn't been accomplished yet, that's the thing to beat.

That ride system actually looks fairly awesome. It looks like a great mix of movement and screens. I could see physical effect work here in use, but likely that's just looking in on screens. Still, the movement it gives is pretty great. That thing was flipping between rooms, though I could NOT see Disney implementing something with flips, unless they want to use NextGen Flip-Flop Resale vending machines...

Maybe Disney can fly their "Dragon" over and just roast the thing.
Wait, they'd have to get it out of the storage shed first.

The second floor of this blueprint also contained no way to travel between pods.

I think these leaked prints are for an attraction based on the aforementioned Vekoma Panoramic Flight Simulator or something in that vein. My take is that @Tim_4 is saying that the current plans are for a different ride system, not the one from the leaked plans.

They're necessary because they're unsustainable in the long term. Monorails are in disrepair and need to be upgraded/expanded, or replaced with a more efficient tracked system. Guests hate buses, yet they're the primary transportation mode and generate a constant stream of complaints. Buses are expensive to operate and a drain on resources.

May I suggest MagLev??

It's even been endorsed by Bob Gurr, designer of the WDW and DL monorail!

Which part? The renovating the restaurant you don't own part, or spending the 200 million you don't have part?

I know how such a system will work. Or at least should work. Seems a natural evolution from other tech but the results could be mind boggling.

I am wondering if some of the behind the scenes struggles has to do with deciding just which IP gets the system first.

Lol 1.2% is hardly a fat dividend...you're trying too hard

Still, it's not like all this money Disney saved from being cheap and charging up the wazoo is sitting around. If they want to get really serious about fixing WDW, they'll need to get quite a bit of debt. Our resident spirit once said it would take 5-10 billion to get WDW back in shape.
