DAK AVATAR progress

Do you know something on the matter btw? Like do your own sources claim Avatar Land is going to contain two rides as well?

The info comes from a source. The area which they're looking to put the night show has another plan for it. Neither has been approved and are currently battling it out in the halls of WDI right now.

As for Avatar, I have no idea, because to be honest I didn't ask. The project holds little interest for me.

Yes of course. Though if they're hoping to break ground on the project by the end of this year, I would assume it fair to say they'd need to have wrapped up the final blueprints and all well in advance of the beginning of construction. Otherwise they're cutting the finalization pretty close.

Funny thing is that I wouldn't even have been surprised if a night show had a better chance of happening than a second ride.

Your assumption is incorrect but I don't blame you for thinking it. It would make sense that plans are finalized before work begins but that's not the case. I've seen projects with literally dozens of change orders for millions of dollars of work in each one.

FLE-$425 million
Cars Land- $575 million
DCA Do-Over- $1.5 Billion (includes the above $575 million)

WWOHP 1.0-$265 million
WWOHP 2.0- $500+ million

That said, I have heard the the DAK nighttime show is basically World of Color with a different theme and a designated amphitheater (think WDW's Fantasmic vs DL's Fantasmic).

In full disclosure i have skipped over all avatar threads b/c of my lack of interest in the concept, but when was the nighttime show added to the deal? Thanks!

That's exactly what it is. You can make a case that the infrastructure improvements are necessary, or at least beneficial. However, infrastructure improvements are very rarely a reason to plan a vacation. I think it's safe to say that anything other than new attractions and/or entertainment can be classified as infrastructure in some way, shape or form.

It may not be a reason to plan a vacation, but it can be a reason to not return.

Internally the project is sometimes referred to as "DAK Full Day." DAK was slated for new goodies whether Avatar happened or not.

Now that Lee has confirmed what I've been saying for two weeks, can people stop calling me a liar?

I hope that I didn't insinuate that you were a liar??

In light of the "Iger visiting the holy land to spread some good news" thread, it seems everyone is a little skeptical to any post that goes out on a limb! Loving the updates btw, keep em coming!!

I see what you're saying, but it's still unnecessary. There was no pressing business need to install RFID, other than someone convinced the bigwigs it would result in what must be projected to be astronomical increases in guest spending.

Replacing the bus fleet with an efficient transportation system? Upgrading an aging monorail fleet? Those things are necessary, and as far as I know, they aren't even on the table.

How are either of those things necessary? Are people not getting where they need to go? Are people dying because of transportation woes?

None of these changes is necessary.

That wasn't my intention, i'm sorry if anything I said indicated that I was claiming you were lying. I simply found it wise to not assume anything about the project until more of a consensus was reached on the matter. Not because anyone here is trying to mislead people, but because people tend to not always have the same source on the matter and one source may have more up to date info on something. But regardless, it wasn't you I was claiming was lying (or even your source in the matter), just whether the source was as up to date as Lee's. And it sounds like in this case, Lee's sources were the ones that were slightly older here. I'm relieved and happy that your information has a good chance of happening.

Regardless, yes it's good to know that Lee seems to agree that your sources know their stuff and thank you for keeping this topic interesting and updated with info. I'm actually very glad your information now has a solid chance of happening. Though Lee's comment about the C ticket being expendable still fills me with some worry. In the end, if something is cut then that will be the reason. Not because anyone here was wrong, it's just that Disney tends to slash the hell out of budgets and plans can change very quickly in the company.
