AVATAR land - the specifics

Seeing as they've incorporated Magic Band interaction with pre-existing rides, they are most certainly putting it to use in Pandora.

Which pre-existing rides other than Small World interact with the bands? I know that video screens designed as magazine covers were put up in the All-Star resorts, but I thought that had all been scrapped.

I feel like interactive elements are the sort of thing the pre-opening ballyhoo would stress, and I haven't seen it mentioned. That leads me to suspect that, if such elements exist, they won't be ready in May.

The ghosts at the end of the Haunted Mansion now do gags with your name and hometown. The queues for Rock 'N' Rollercoaster and Expedition Everest use magicband information too. I think there are other rides as well, they're just not coming to me at the moment. Next time I visit I'll have to make a list. So yes, there are other pre-existing rides aside from Small World which use it.

Oh, not to mention Test Track, the main employer of the technology, though I'm not sure that counts as a pre-existing ride.

I'm in the camp that Avatarland should use it in some impactful way. Magicbands open up so much potential for a more personalized, more magical experience, and right now, Disney's barely stretched the surface of possibilities. They apparently spent billions of dollars on the technology, now it's time to put that investment to good use.

Of course, I've used it on Test Track (not with a band though - never owned one of them). I guess I missed the Everest thing by not waiting in line. I am embarrassed by my ignorance.

Shows how out of the loop I am. Back before 2010 or so I spent about 3 weeks at WDW a year. Now I go to one of the four Orlando parks once every year or so. Uni Orlando and Disneyland satiate my theme park appetite.

The other site is stating AP previews April 8th and 9th, but I really don't know if anyone has started training yet. I had heard one of the first groups was training the week of the 9th...

Anyone know anything about Djuan Rivers? As in, whether park fans should like him? He seems like a cool guy, but it must be tough being vp of Animal Kingdom right now with the whole Rivers of Light thing going on, and the uncertainty of how successful Pandora will be.

As for these videos... I understand that we're still over two months out and they don't want to give away too much. But it would be nice if they focused on something other than how it fits the park. I don't think pushing the connection for a third time is much use, when most fans have their pre-opening opinions set by this point.

These videos make me worried that the land won't do a good job fostering the connection between Earth and Pandora on it's own. And that's why they're so heavily explaining it. Hopefully my suspicion is wrong.
