AVATAR land - the specifics

They do, but I don't think that is what is being waited on here do you? The wait is more so on how much of a bone Disney is willing to toss at it.

I thinking is interesting that Disney chose to use a photo if a model and not drawn art. I think Disney's thought is that most people are used to seeing detailed models of a near final design from Disney. This is not true, as models are built at all stages of design, but I think Disney's hope is that this makes people think there is more than actually exists.

But it's not even a model of anything. It's just green Styrofoam carved into a green expanse of nothing, with a little brown Styrofoam snack bar near Staggs elbow.

That model is just... nothing.

It could be a "model" of anything. It could just as well be an early Styrofoam model of a planned mini-golf course in Kissimmee, if you took out all the buildings and structures of said mini-golf course, except for the little Styrofoam mini-golf snack bar near Staggs elbow.

It actually literally just resembles a stripped Camp Minnie Mickey area with some large set pieces scattered and little vending huts.

Does not that sicken or put a reality to this project on anyone else?

But what an immersive and expansive mini-golf snack bar it would be! I would say it's the largest mini-golf snack bar expansion in Disney history. I feel it sweeps me into the world of mini golf snacks in a way only Disney can.

Is that looking likely now? Or is it a case of Avatar is never going to happen?
If Avatar happens, it's a few years down the road. If LotR happens, it'll be around the same time. Universal has enough to be getting on with at the moment. This would surely be a "Post-Potter" project.

There have been whispers for a while that negotiations have been ongoing. We'll see.

Nothing substantial will happen to Toon Lagoon until they decide what to replace it with (LotR?), IMO.
I fail to see why Toon Lagoon needs replacing. It has a strength in not being tied to a particular franchise or brand. No reason that a new attraction could not utilize a more contemporary comic or cartoon (Dudley Do-Right was television, not print).

Toon Lagoon needs more love than either Jurassic Park or Seuss Landing.

No, they need to fix Jurassic Park first. Specifically, they need to fix that giant broken T-Rex animatronic, the one that lunged toward guests when the ride first opened but no longer moves. It's a shame they have to hide it behind a black curtain, or mask the lack of movement with strobe lights. Disney would never allow that to happen to the climactic scene of one its major attractions -- that's the Disney Difference!

Interesting - thanks for the info!

Do you think that they would replace the whole of Toon Lagoon with LOTR (it would be terrible to lose Popeye/Dudley), or go with the original rumour of replacing the Toon Lagoon Theater area with LOTR - so it would go (clockwise)...

MSHI
LOTR
Toon Lagoon
Jurassic Park
WWOHP
Lost Continent
Seuss

It's a shame that the Theater was built on the MSHI side rather than the Jurassic Park side - the comic style of MSHI/TL fits well together, and LOTR would fit better beside Jurassic Park/WWOHP/Lost Continent - that would look better than LOTR in between two cartoon lands. There's no way they could have the entrance/exit between Dudley and JP, and use the area behind Thunder Falls Terrace as well as the Toon Lagoon Theater (and if they could get you easily across the road, there could be some more land to use there that's not going to become hotel/water park)

I like Toon Lagoon, it just needs some more attractions and maybe a less "bare" transition between it and Marvel Super-Hero Island.

I want it completely replaced.
