AVATAR land - the specifics

I'm watching Avatar as I am typing this... With technology for video being as it is, I wonder if Disney will come up with a way for us, the guest, to have our own Avatar, in our image, like in the movie... The avatar of the Na'vi that the humans control resemble the person controlling it... Since Sony and Microsoft, with the Playstation Eye and what ever it isw Xbox uses, have cameras that can capture your image and put your imagine into certain video games, I wonder if this is technology Disney will use in this land and ride...
Yes in the gift shop you can sit in a kiosk with a cast member, and do an avatar of yourself that shows up in the back of the kiosk 30 min later as an avatar doll molded with your face. You even get to reach inside the machine to get it, haha.

The fake waterfalls are amazing. I really looked up at those and couldn't tell just with normal eyesight.

Does anyone know if they still have the banshee perches? I bought a banshee today and didn't realize they have or had perches for sale.

They had them earlier when I was in there.

That's absolutely incredible! I love seeing how simple practical effects can be used so well.

Thanks for sharing.

I tweeted Joe about it!!

To anyone visiting, I would love it if someone could set a camera in one or two spots and just film a nice slow and stable pan so we can get a full view of the valley (or recommend one that's already out there that I may have missed.) I've seen some great shots, but most are while walking, or have a sort of "oh, look over there!" herky-jerkyness to them.

Thanks again to absolutely everyone that has shared not only photos but their impressions and reviews as well.

Just got back from my first visit over to Pandora. I didn't see this posted anywhere, so forgive me, but the banshee rookery was sold out late this morning. The entire wall was just empty shelves, and they were bringing over baskets of the plush banshees as a fill gap. There was a huge line to get in the store when we arrived a little after 8, so I'm not sure if they only hold back so many per day? I already have my own personal shoulder banshee (a.k.a. a parrot, lol!) but it might be something to keep in mind if you're going soon.

Overall, I really enjoyed the area. I'll always miss what "could have been" with Beastly Kingdom, but I think they did a great job. We had breakfast and lunch at Satu'li and rode FoP in between. The wait was posted at 165, but we got to merge around 110-115? Loved the queue - with so much to see and a constantly moving line, it barely felt like much of a wait. I hope to go back soon to see the area at night and ride NRJ.

Wow, I guess I'm not surprised though about the banshees. They were selling them as fast as they could put them out on the table when I was there Wed. Somebody said they had sold 1700 on opening day. So times that by a week, and by how many they must have sold during those passholder/DVC/CM previews, and I bet they have sold well into the 5 figures of those already at 50 bucks a pop. I knew that they were just barely covering each day with a shipment when I was there Wed., because they were saying they were getting a daily shipment, and by the end of the day they only had one color left. I felt so bad, one kid wanted my color badly and wanted to trade or give me money... I guess it would be mean of me to wear my banshee to the park right now with them not even being available, it would just tease the kids.

Saw somewhere that banshees are sold out for weeks. They should really start doing preorders of sold out merch that they plan on restocking on the Shop Parks App.
