AVATAR land - the specifics

Lol you read my mind.

I fail to see the connection between pandora and bali? Research, yea right. More like a trip on Disney.
If you watch the video, you'll see the connection. It's pretty clear in the landscape. Plus, I imagine most of the folks at that level do everything "on Disney."

I'm not sure why people worry so much about wether or night WDI goes in these research trip. I really doubt that the amount spent is big enough to make any significant change to Disney's bottom line. It's also is a tax right off.
Besides I have been to places like Bali, stayed in expensive hotels and fly first class. With the amount of flying they do I am sure they have plenty of miles they use for that. Last time I went to Bali I spent 28 days at a good hotel ate and great restaurants, had a private guide and spent about 4,000 including a whopping $56.00 dollars for first class roundtrip airfare on Qatar airline.
I really doubt that those trips go into the millions for cost but maybe a few thousand

The length of trip, who is going, where are they staying, equipment they are bringing with them, who are they meeting with, meals, etc. Secondly when its not out of your pocket and its the company that you don't own, you are more likely to spend way more money and not look at price tags as much as there is no incentive not to besides hitting the trip limit set by your company.

So, Na'Vi River Journey kind of revolves around its soundtrack. Is there any sort of score in Flight of Passage, ie how on Gringotts/Star Tours, etc the music plays under the action? Or is it like the land in the sense that you'll only hear the sounds of the environment around you?

I'm trying to avoid ride videos before my trip (would like these 2 things to remain unblemished), but wow! does the rest of the land look pretty, or what? The theming is so gorgeous. :inlove: I need to check out the food offerings and reviews so my friends and I can decide if we want to eat at Pandora or Yak & Yeti.

I have also been wondering that. I really like the soundtrack for the movie and was hoping that it would be integrated into the land somewhere. But seeing as how they are committed to making this "real" I wouldn't be surprised if there is no soundtrack playing in the background anywhere.

I'm in the same boat. Part of me wants to cheat and watch the videos but another side says be surprised. So far the be surprised side is wining.

From what I have heard, there isn't much of a score at all. Only in certain dramatic points.

FOP does indeed have a score... it's gorgeous and really gives a lasting emotional impact.

Don't give in to temptation! :) you will be so happy if you wait... pictures and videos don't do this place justice... it's incredible :)

Much as I don't want to spoil it for myself by viewing things, I don't believe images and video are capable of capturing what Pandora is like in the flesh.
The scale, the sounds...

One thing that I have noticed on here is how plain the queue is for the Na'vi River Journey ride. I saw this on Inside the Magic and thought it would provide some additional context:

"Above the queue is another intricate hand-woven piece that actually serves as a map of the river that winds through Pandora. The blue ropes represent the river, and the other areas represent the rest of the bioluminescent forest. At night, this piece takes on new life as it is illuminated with light that moves, showing where various life forms are as they journey down the river, according to Executive Creative Director Stefan Hellwig."

Also, for those keeping score, please remember that the queue for the NRJ was made supposed to have been made by the Na'vi. As a result, it would consequently appear much simpler when compared to the queue for FoP. It apparently transforms at night, however, so that should be something neat to see.

James Horner said he was working on music for the land before he died. Even if he wasn't able to complete it, I'm sure something reminiscent of his work will be in the land somewhere.

Any definitive news on whether FOP is friendly for plus size riders?

so far nobody has said anything specific I don't think however the restraint system alone would lead me to believe it would inherently be less friendly than say soaring ect. Shouldn't be unruly but something along the lines of coasters maybe?

Not so bad on the belly, but the big offender is big (as in thicker) legs. Had one muscular friend (who is quite thin) unable to ride to to the thickness of his leg.
