AVATAR land - the specifics

So, I saw this posted by @Rteetz over on the dis boards site.

The educational aspects of this are interesting. They speak to how being educated on Pandoran culture, biology, etc., can help inspire us to learn about ourselves and our own planet in terms of conservation, etc.

Makes me wonder about the future of Future World in Epcot when I read things like that. I think to myself, if they are able to really spark people's interest in learning about science and culture through a fantasy story, isn't that what some in Disney are hoping can be done with some of the changes to Future World?

The conceit of successfully infusing the pavilions with IP that educate park visitors and proclaiming that it still follows the original intent of the park. I sometimes think that an overly profitable Pandora might infuse Chapek and others with the bravado that they need to demonstrate that, when used cleverly, IP can definitely be used to edutain the masses in the spirit of how EPCOT used to be.

The irony for me is that I want Pandora to be outrageously successful.

What type of music will be played in the land? I know that James Horner was going to write the music for Pandora but died in a tragic plane crash and I don't know if it was done before this unfortunate passing. Music sets the mood for the area and I think Disney does a great job in all of their different lands.
Also, it's exciting to see some of the night time testing that taking place. The night time show on the ToL was amazing and I hope they use some of that technology in Pandora. Any thoughts? @twebber55 @flyerjab

I pretty much concur with @twebber55 on this one. The soundtrack from the Avatar movie is pretty spot on for background music in a theme park. Actually, they already play a part of this soundtrack in DHS. I have heard it several times there.

But the music that James Horner composed for this movie is perfect and I am really hoping to hear it when I first visit this expansion sometime next year.

Concerning projection mapping in Pandora, I still think that they will use it to help achieve the glowing effects on the plants.

LOL. According to wdwmagic posters, the river journey is now a cross between gran fiesta tour and jungle cruise and only has one aa. Gotta love this place.

By no means will this be GFT, if anything closer to Shanghai Pirates (but not Shanghai Pirates, a ways from it TBH), but shorter. Proportions are equivalent. This will be very intimate, as well.

What is frustrating still is that for the money they're spending, we *should* be getting the Avatar version of Pirates. That's not to say I don't believe it will be good, but there should be more to it, even as the secondary attraction.

people always use that word to describe the ride. "intimate"- but what do they really mean by that? Slow and detailed, (boring?)

You haven't ridden it.
Thus the second part of my post. The scale, however, as every insider for months has said, is not on the same level as Pirates. Period. For a billion dollars, we should be getting more. Don't have to have ridden something to know scale, just execution.

We know the length. That's pretty much it.
