Eat up.

I'm happy to see that we've got solid progress on Pandora. I wish we had a behind-the-scenes person!

We have discussed this a number of times. There is nothing at this point that confirms that this is actually going to be used for Avatar. It seems like it would make sense, but I question how these plants would hold up when they are constantly being touched by guests?

Few points
1. I completely agree with you
2. I never said it was confirmed
3. I do think when Joe Rohde talks about living/breathing environment this is the stuff he is talking about
4. Ill let Disney worry about the endurance of the plant life

2. I didn't say that you did, but the article seemed to imply it was.

Now I'm really looking forward to seeing this in person when I return to WDW in the future. Especially the plants.

I don't care if it's confirmed or not, at least the smoke effect and water effect will be useful during very hot days.

I would be guessing rather than an actual touch, there may be some magic band action involved.

When @MansionButler84 first announced the delay this was what I first thought about. The use of this tech in the land is in a controlled setting, which should help longevity. It is the actual tech itself, that I have a hard time believing will stand the test of time. It is definitely more complex than the wands...

I wonder if they can avoid using disney/earth related objects to trigger the reaction because it kind of seems cheap and lazy to tie it in that way using magic bands . I feel like they should do it the same way Universal did it with the interactive wands and in this case, visitors would have to have something like this:

to "connect" in special areas of the park (like random pandora animal AA's people could interact with) and of course in the FOP ride. It probably wouldn't be used with plants tho

EDIT: It could be used like this too:
