AVATAR land construction progress

The whole idea behind Disney parks is suspending your knowledge of the inter workings. You can always just see it as a show building. But when you're in the park, the illusion is created that allows for your brain to forget it's just a show building. So it's fine to have it exposed outside the park. However inside the park? That's unacceptable.

Exposed show buildings is a huge pet peeve of mine. The problem at DAK is that you may have to see these show buildings when you enter the parking lot. Everest isn't fully obscured by the trees (although it's close) and Pandora could potentially be a problem as well.

You know I'm on your side? I'm saying that it's okay to have exposed show buildings from outside the park as long as the illusion is kept in tact inside the park. Places like dragon alley that have exposed show buildings INSIDE the park are unacceptable to me.

Don't know a Diagon Alley, but you can see the showbuilding for Forbidden Journey/Hogwarts from inside IoA.

That's what I meant. I wouldn't call it the most immersive theme park land ever with a warehouse sticking out of the back of hog warts.

Even though Forbidden Journey is the better attraction, Diagon Alley is the better themed land.

I've had this debate for a while now and personally I think Africa is the best themed land I've been to when you factor in attraction lineup, cohesive theming, sight lines, etc. It's close between Africa and Diagon.

Is this any better? Look over on the right.

That is not Diagon Alley. The show building for Forbidden Journey is definitely bad show, but the immersion in Diagon is complete, you can't even see anything outside the land when you are in it.
Actually, the outside queue for Gringotts exposes the backside of some of the shops, as well as some flats that represent distant buildings, and the overflow extended queue exposes the Gringotts show building.

I never appreciated it as much as others seem too. Especially with the dragon coaster and the Hippogriff one. Just big Unthemed coasters. Rather distracting to me.

Yes, you have made it abundantly clear that you don't appreciate the Potter lands. Yes, the Hogsmede side has issues, but the Diagon Alley side is for the best themed environment in any theme park I have visited, and the whole experience of going to Diagon Alley, getting the Hogwarts Express in London, arriving in Hogsmeded and then going into Hogwarts is pretty amazing.

Ah, ok, I didn't notice that. Again, it's a shame that they didn't go 100%, but these things don't detract from the achievement for me.

According to you...

Yeah, it's unfortunate because the rest of the land is so top-notch, but it sticks out because it's the only offender. Mind you, it is technically the extended queue, but I've always thought that if there's an expectation that a guest will enter that area, then it should be fully themed.

When we took to the bus to AK last week, I was amazed at how hidden Pandora seemed to be from the back, that Flight of Passage show building could just as easily been a backstage warehouse disconnected from the park.

It will be interesting if/what they do to disguise that giant building within the park and from outside. I totally understand the thought process that show buildings should be themed from all angles and respect that that may be difficult and cost prohibitive.

I would rather have them have an exposed building (outside the park) and spend more money on the theming inside the park.
