AVATAR land construction progress

One of my favourite exercises, I can now use a major project that isn't RSR as a gauge of how far along Pandora is.

Roaring Mountain 1 year ago

12 months later it is cycling and one of the few SDL rides people are confident will be open.

What does it mean? Don't expect to be stepping foot in Pandora this year, but things still strongly point to the first half of 2017, as usual.
That looks fantastic. For a park that has a lot of negatives, this and Pirates are very intriguing.

So has anyone seen any evidence in the construction that the floating mountains will actually be moving (ie, floating) once constructed? All the supports and facades I've seen so far look pretty rigid, so I'm wondering how they could accomplish this. Jim Hill reports the floating mountains will move but I'd imagine only the smaller ones and/or it will be an illusion.
although i enjoy listening to Jim i think on this topic he s full of bull

I wonder if they could pull off an effect where the mountains are stationary but have some vines that sway. That might pull of the effect without having to move gigantic steel structures

I don't recall them moving in the film.

You do see the mountains floating about in the movie, but I don't recall anywhere mention of the mountains in the new land would be moving, and looking at the construction photos there is nothing to suggest they will be moving.

I agree, but I'm not sure you'd see evidence of movement yet. It'd be impractical to mobilize the fundamental base mountain with the maintenance rooms. (Also, think of how scary that would be if it was moving over your head!) If anything moves, it'll be the smaller, forced-perspective mountains in the backdrop, the ones that look like they're on toothpicks in the model. Those haven't been built yet.

Yep those could move for 6 months til the mechanism breaks. Strobes will be pre-installed.

I have a great source...(Bigfoot) that suggest the Yeti has tired of his home and is looking to retire to the floating mountains once they are completed.

I can all but guarantee they will move as no steel structure is completely static. You average skyscraper sways a several inches under normal conditions.;)

So . . . someone here has some knowledge. That's the first I've heard of any of the floating mountains
having maintenance rooms! One would assume some sort of access to the plumbing for the water features, and lighting access
but not rooms . . . hmm . . . do share more "Tales of the Infrastructure", if you can, lol.

I just re-watched the film last night. Still like it! When they are climbing to the rookery, the smaller rocks do indeed move
just a bit, reacting under their weight. I didn't see the larger ones moving, probably the larger ones won't, but some small
ones might/could slightly shift to aid in the floating illusion. I'm sure somewhere in the land there will be some 'Unobtanium'
display . . .

I'm no insider, just an observer.

If not a full "room" then there's certainly lots of access points. As you said, they'd need them for plumbing and electronics at a minimum. Looking at the D23 model I would expect any moving "mountains" to be forced perspective and on or near the roof of the structure (which will surely also have maintenance access for its weather barrier).
