Is there a 3rd big Avatar attraction they haven't announced yet? They seem to have some extra space that's already been cleared I've color this mystery area purple

...and most of this stuff above can be accounted for in the photos that Disney has released, except for the area that's colored purple here

There certainly is room for another Africa attraction in the yellow area but nothing is being built there. That area is all "on stage" at this point around the bathrooms there. @marni1971 had indicated in the past that there was plans for a dark ride in that vicinity (themed to Lion King, I think) that was nixed.

It's possible that something might be being built for Africa south of the bathrooms in that area, but since we haven't heard of anything, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

As for Pandora, the southern blue area you have labelled at "boat ride building" is where the power substation is going (with some of that area being left undeveloped).

Martin -- can you confirm anything about WDW1974's rumor of a "third attraction" for Pandora beyond the flying simulator and the boat ride? Even if not a third ride, is there going to be a substantial other attraction like a walking trail of sorts?
Apart from the cancelled E ticket I cannot confirm I'm afraid.

Though they'd have to be stupid not to have some sort of walkabout (not an attraction, more an added diversion)

I would like to know if that "lighted footsteps" tech they showed us was only going to be used in a enclosed area so it could be seen all day, or just in certain path areas which makes it an attraction to the area during nighttime.

I don't think the boat ride will go that far south. They still need to build the new central energy plant and I believe it is going to go in that area. I also think they would have started to build the rest of the boat tide there by now, unless rumors of it being phase two turn out to be true.

I suppose they will build big walls and tree barriers to prevent the visitors from seeing the backarea ?
because the building area of Avatar was easily visible from the buses (I wonder if anyone remembers my photos from February)

Just a guess my my opinion is that the purple will be a transition area. Bridge connection likely themed to Africa and than using vegetation and such you have to (walk around) to pandora. So it's not like jurassic park and Harry potter land if you get my drift. Also could squeeze in a bathroom or as mentioned a dvc stall some carts ect. General park stuff

The purple area still has the CMM restroom building in it. It's possible it was just left up for use during construction, but it's also possible it will be re-themed and used for the public.

It could also be something thats used in the queue line of one of the attractions.

That purple area is where they are putting "Stitch's Great Pandoran Escape" ;)

that'll take the place of the Yeti - a big Elsa... I mean half the mountain is frozen now right?

Are you an imagineer? I think thematically you've nailed both. Stitch is an alien, no reason he can't be on Pandora. Elsa likes the cold and there is no reason for her not to take the Oslo to Lukla flight and then start on her own Everest expedition.
