AVATAR Concept Art released

Good point, I hadn't considered how you would transition from Africa to Pandora. That certainly would be a challenge.

Perhaps Disney need to buy the rights to District 9. That was a science fiction film with aliens based in Africa...

While Disney does veer into social issues on occasion, I doubt anyone at the company is raring to bring an apartheid allegory to the theme parks.

I just realized I sorta blew it in my illustration having the carsland style rock wall to the left,
rather than to the right, of the giant floating rocks.

I'd do it over, but I'll wait to see if we get any insider feedback before doing that.

Oh, and, ahem, if any insiders want to PM me with secrets that I could
incorporate into a rendering, well, I wouldn't mind. :)

I might even do it up fancier-like.

I believe the coaster concept is going to be used for Star Wars instead.

I didn't like Avatar, but the best thing about the movie was the impressive 3D for its time. I think a plussed Soarin in 3D is the perfect way to experience an Avatar attraction. Cameron will make sure it is top shelf, and we get a river ride for the entire family to boot. I have very high hopes for this land.

That is called doing the bare minimum - I'm all for Avatar if they are going to be using brand new technology in rides or even the I-ride system or a whole new system - to at least equal one of the following: Spiderman, Transformers, FJ or hell Gringotts.

Well, to be fair, we can't know if it's the bare minimum or not until
we experience it. It could be that some small modifications to the motion system,
the screen (dome?), adding 3D, shooting at high frame rates at IMAX or better
resolution . . . could really make for a remarkable new sensory experience.

All of those things are likely given Cameron's penchant for new immersive filmmaking
technology.

Think about higher resolution than IMAX, with high frame rates, in 3D--it could be like looking
out a window into a new world, like nothing we've seen before.

I highly doubt, but hey we're all just guessing here, that it will be simply Soarin 2.0.

So glad to see something actual...I'm very optimistic and think the new additions announced for AK is the first step for a big shot in the arm. I'll be planning a visit!

Some interesting comments on the entrance to the area. But, I'm just wondering how they explain the fact that the moon and environment of Pandora is here. How does the "story" for this new land get introduced in such a way that it fits with the park and it's surroundings? Training center for new recruits traveling there maybe?

Edit: I neglected to mention the fact that that Pandora's air is un-friendly to humans, and the last time we saw it, humans were being escorted off. So, how do they re-tell the story in a way that clears up these two issues?

I will say this it would be awesome for them to institute a sparkle project across DAK. However in saying that, if, this is built I will simply switch around my mornings and nights with DHS being morning and DAK being at night. 2 rides since 2004 doesn't make for a full day park. Now if they were going to double the amount of attractions to around 30 then we are talking.

Yay, DAK is being addressed DCA style!!

Now, EC and DHS needs the same TLC.

I would like to say MK has been addressed with FLE, but it still deserves some more TLC...

Ha ha ha oh boy. Where to start? No it appears as though DAK will get its pretty band aid for another park. Oh and no true boundary pushing E-ticket. Pretty band aids aren't what WDW needs or deserves.

It would be interesting if they would even have some sort of pre show for the land itself. Almost kinda like what they are doing over at Universal and the hogwarts express. Be tough to work out but could really give an immersive experience by transporting people to Pandora rather than them just walking in to it

Or like what the Living Seas used to do with the Hydrolator. But knowing TDO, they probably won't.

best news for Pandora.. maybe with something new and interesting to take all the buzz in DAK... maybe Everest will finally get a rehab! Or at least maybe the single excuse could die :)

I am so over the parks building simulators! I assume the main reason is to save space but not everyone can go on simulators without getting sick or getting a bad headache!
I hope, and assume, the boat ride will NOT be a simulator? I am mostly excited for that! Any idea if it will be a low key/calm boat ride? Or more of an "adventure" type with drops and such?

You are probably the only person hoping that this will be a low key attraction.

He's not. Animal Kingdom needs more calm rides that don't have height limits or other restrictions. It needs E Tickets as well, but calm rides are a must in a park with arguably no decent rides for people who just need a calm experience.

And if it has the theming to support it without the ride system being thrilling, it doesn't need to be thrilling to be entertaining.
