well i for one am obviously excited for this and hope we can turn the conversation/debate away from pro anti avatar to actual construction talk....to me the model is the most important piece of art...answers some quetions like this land will be bigger than i thought and outside...my question is still about the e ticket what it is and where

It makes zero thematic sense in that park.

He means other Avatar lands that may appear at other Disney parks around the world.
And I mean, that the Q and A that people are quoting was from 2+ years ago.

Also, for people looking at the model and trying to figure out the orientation, I'm not positive but I speculate that the pathways in the bottom left of the photo are heading towards Discovery Island and that the design concept will have the floating mountains be a reveal that emerges from going down both paths. I also speculate they're going to have some difficulty hiding the support structures on the back side of the floating mountain as it will likely be visible from the parking lot/bus stops.

Well that certainly has never been done before.

I haven't posted In a while, been busy, but I have to say, this looks pretty good! I think it looks fantastic. I'll be the first to admit, I wasn't (still not) crazy about Avatar/Pandora being in AK, but I will gladly shell out my share of money to see this if its even close to what's represented in the concept art. Maybe it's not the best place or even the greatest IP, but nevertheless, I like what i see.

Judging by the new fantasyland art from a few years back and the finished project I'm excited to see the Avatar finished project. If the theming and effects are on the same level it should be amazing. I can't wait to see more.

Sheesh, people need to lighten up. Disney just showed off some impressive concept art for a whole new land that will more than likely be the best themed area in the theme park world when finished. If Disney can nail Carsland like them did in Cali, this is going to be epic indeed.

Somewhere, I am sure that I have read 12 acres (I think that it said the same size as Cars Land).

However, I don't know where I read that, or whether Cars Land is even 12 acres...

I seem to remember Cameron throwing around the 12 acre number back when this project was first announced. Some quick measurement in Google Earth confirm that Cars Land is about 12 acres.

Pretty excited from these pics. Hopefully This marks the beginning of the big change at WDW. I was just out at DL and other than carsland the experience at WDW is much better....much much better. This addition alone is gonna knock it out of,the park. Awesome. Only 3 more years to go.

Really? What makes WDW better for you? I'm interested, as this is the opposite of many opinions (including mine) on these forums regarding current maintenance.

And since I haven't posted on this thread yet, I have to say... The concept art looks amazing. Probably only about 1/3 of that will come to life in the end, but we'll see.

I'm finally starting to get excited about this. I'm sure that will fade when I wake up tomorrow and realize that it's still 3 years away. :grumpy:

Well, it is a park themed to literature ... and Harry Potter is the star of a series of books. Regardless, I have no interest in defending IOA; I've never been there.

It's inside a mansion an architectural style (Victorian Gothic) that was common in the northeast United States during the mid-to-late 1700s. It's meant to make you think you're in Dutch-settled NY state.

Umm ok...so the haunted mansion theme fits in with Liberty Square how?

If you want to talk about just aesthetics...Pandora is a jungle environment with cascading waterfalls that can be found on Earth. #graspingatstrawswithyourhauntedmansionrebuttal

I agree. DLR is nice but WDW has it beat in many ways. I was out there over the holidays and while I found it to be an overall positive experience, I left there feeling like I don't need to ever go back. While I will visit WDW countless more times.

Let's not forget Disneyland had a dark period too. And their Splash Mountain is currently in pathetic condition compared to WDW's (which also was pathetic not long ago). Several figures have been frozen in place for months now--I know as I've gone several times over the past 3 months.
