I didn't say Disney should just kind of crap this thing out and see what happens. I said, us, we, the internet community at large. The people that have spent millions of posts fighting over and over, through many threads, on if this is a success or failure, based on nothing more than a few rumors, some concept art, and now a pile of dirt.

I am still surprised they didn't announce new non-avatar related news when they did the last media push for Avatar, and get the focus away from 'fans' that this isn't just an Avatar expansion. Just think they could of announced Mythic Isle and Avatar as part of $2billion Morphing project of DAK....

Well, now we all know. It's all my fault. You know, maybe Disney might want to actually inform people that they have important projects and deadlines. Sheesh, for all you know, you might be the reason the Yeti is still broken!

All I'm saying is, I've never seen a proposed project draw such an overwhelmingly negative reaction from what are patrons of the product. And, we, the community can have an impact (the mine train was not in the original plans announced by Disney). But Iger's ego is at stake, so product be damned, full speed ahead. Pretty much just an ordinary day in the life of Disney Parks under Iger's reign.

If coke announced on facebook they had a new formula that tasted more like licorice and its fanbase overwhelming shouted, but we hate licorice, would they proceed anyway? I dunno. If Ford released concept art for its new car and its fanbase overwhelmingly shouted its ugly, would they rethink the idea? We aren't talking about the normal negativity you see on the internet (I realize Disney could announce the parks were now free, and people would still complain). But, Avatarland, from the start, has drawn an overwhelmingly negative response. Yes, there are some supporters, but on its best day, its 50-50 for support vs hate.

I'm glad you said that. I just checked my e-mail. Apparently I am VP of Animal Kingdom. I was supposed to order 500 gallons of Yeti grease. My bad.

Ok, I understand your point. But, if you were one of those companies, and people were screaming hate for something they've never actually seen or experienced? Something they actually have NO concept about, would you automatically cancel the project? If Coke came out and said, hey, we have a new offering in the works, something that we're really excited about, and it's going to be bacon-flavored soda. Bad example, everyone loves bacon. Ok, your example, licorice flavored. Not that they are replacing their formula, because that is not what Disney is doing here. It's an addition. So, a new flavor. They're going to put out a new soda. I doubt they'd cancel this new flavor because of 50% of their Facebook comments were negative. They'd likely still try and put it out, if they believed it was going to be a good product, and have it's own fanbase.
And this is where we probably agree. This has been a massive failure, so far, in the information. IF Disney believes in this project as strongly as they do, they should be showing the online community why they have no reason to worry. A few pieces of concept art, released to some super-fans (I dont think those hit the actual media), and a little video from J. Cam at D23 (again, it's target - superfans). That's all they have thrown out. This had better be a wakeup call for them. They had better realize they have some major PR to do here. If they believe in this project, and I think they do, then they had better get out and show us why they do.

However, Avatar isn't going to deter people from going to DAK or WDW...If its there & I'm there I'm going to go see it. It won't make the numbers go down... I also think its just not going to make the attendance numbers go up.

Hmmm... I wonder who else has been falling asleep at the wheel here. I'll bet that @George is likely responsible for destroying Horizons. All they needed was his signature to continue it's presence in the parks, and since he didn't know he worked for Disney, he didn't sign, and they shut it down.
Or, knowing @George he knew all along and shredded the continuation paperwork while laughing maniacally and stroking a furless ferret.

We liked the Avatar movie....I'm not negative about them announcing another announcement they are going forward with the project.
But I still think they need to move forward with Star Wars at HS. HS needs that as deperately as AK and WDW as a whole needs a new land.
