Maybe, but the questions are:
1.) Will they plan an extra trip to WDW for it? (doubtful)
2.) Will they plan an extra day at AK for it and not sabotage another park visit at WDW?
3.) Will they buy any Avatar merchandise?
The answers to these questions won't be as positive as Disney is hoping I don't think.
I totally remember....nothing like the general public unanimously hating your replacement product to whip a large corporation into some major backpedallingAnyone forget about the 'new' Coke and the bite back from consumers or is that lost in this day and age....
Here
1. I certainly think new people will come to Disney now just like harry potter folks came to Uni..not on that levelIMHO
1. Possibly, I might. Everything is always time and money driven of course by if I have the money I will make the time to visit Avatarland the year it opens
2. Yes I sure would
3. Maybe, actually probably not......as a matter of fact I am curious was there any merchandise that even came out with the run of Avatar at the movies ? I don't really find the blue creatures that appealing, but we all really did like the movie. And the glimpse of the sketches of the land they are building look really beautiful IMO..
Nope, but that was a replacement, not an additional product. The comparison could be valid if they were replacing DAK with Avatarland, not adding it.Anyone forget about the 'new' Coke and the bite back from consumers or is that lost in this day and age....

Wow Facebook is getting pretty nasty. Anyone who follows it, how was it during the initial announcement?
That is before the 40% delay.Sounds great, but ugh...2017?? 3 years away.
Too bad it couldn't have been 84,300 days...843 days since it was announced until construction broke ground.

Ok, I guess there could be grounds for those that loved CMM.
I hated New Coke myself. Glad they listened after people got their hands on it, tried it out, and hated it (rightfully).
This is an honest question, because I don't follow Disneyland news, and didn't follow it online for sure at the time. How did people react to Carsland? It was the least popular Pixar franchise, kids opinions aside. What did they learn from that though - focus test, focus test, focus test ... every new flavour of Coke goes through so much scrutiny before its launched either globally or territory based. Should TWDC of focus tested the idea first with at least a core percentage of users ... yes ... it should not of been decided at a luncheon between Iger and Cameron.
Or the correct way anticipate your fans will hate it turn the idea into a Morphing of the whole DAK, announce Mythic Isle announce new rides for Asia + Africa and Pandora, plus night time spectacular - it would of reduced the amount of negativity this project has sustained ... I'll believe it when I'm immersed in a land with brand new technology of the center piece attraction. Do I think Disney is capable of WOWing me? Nope! But I will be waiting to be proven wrong.
