Attraction Poster Contest #4 - Tower of Terror

I'm happy just observing... I think I get the idea though. 
ACE, like I said, I don't doubt for a second that you spent time cutting it out. If the original was artwork, then you're good to go.
As a side note. People that have Photoshop still have to use the mouse to cut things out, the exact same way you did. There really is no special tool for doing it any other way. The magic wand tool in Photoshop can rarely be used to cut anything precisely (if ever). It never grabs right along an edge, and if it ever does, it certainly won't from any kind of photo.
I personally have spent many hours cutting and drawing things in Photoshop for every single contest we've done. Photoshop isn't magic. Everything I have ever entered in these contests could have been done using a free program off of the internet.

Yeah, his entry made me finally understand what I thought, but the first entries kinda confused me at first. I was too lazy to search for the past attractions. :lookaroun This is a cool idea now that I have seen some of the latest entries.... if someone had a lot of time to draw one from scratch, you could really make something awesome.

I posted the original artwork. It doesn't look like a phtotgraph to me but I don't know for sure. It doesn't have to be in the contest, at this point, I really don't care anymore. I'll leave it up so if someone wants to download it they can or you can delete it.

Edit: Please don't take this as "I'm mad" because I'm not. Frustrated, yes, mad, no. Thought I found a great pic to use and now I'm not so sure. Oh and yes I started it early because I knew TOT was gonna win.

This is 100% Photoshop. I used watercolor filters on the foliage out in front and various glow styles to make the building and text glow as well as the lightning (hand drawn) glow and the stars (also hand drawn) glow.
The text you see saying "The HOLLYWOOD TOWER Hotel" was created by me. I.E. I did not grab that text from the building. I created it from scratch, then moved it over the building. It is 100% digital

Please! LET me know if you can read the text on top, if everything is readable, or if you think it would look better with less glow, or if it would look better if I got rid of the two ghostly towers in front, or if you have any other suggestions, please give them!

Well, I think its amazing... I can read the top, but I'd say it may be better if you clear it up somehow... I think the lightening messes it up a bit...

How does it look now? I erased some of the lightning bolt so the top is easier to read (in the process, I also deleted the black outline around the text at the top). I also made a minor change to the ghostly towers. Other than that, it's the same! Hwo does it look now?Originally posted by SirNim

Seriously, that's an a$$ kickin' entry there Sir Nim! Beutifully done, and to be honest, much better than I was expecting from you. You've outdone yourself.
And, again, ACE, I apologize if I came acroos badly. Now that I see that the original artwork was not a photo, your entry works fine. It looks more like a photo in B&W I think, but it totally doesn't matter, because it isn't. Good luck in the voting!

No need to apologize. I agree that the B&W looks more like a photo than the color one. That's why I stretched it. Also as I see some of the other entries I get a better feel for what you were saying. I had the idea for my entry for awhile, I thought it would be for a wallpaper contest and I was waiting for TOT to come up. So I just thought I would apply it to the poster contest. If I can come up with something else I'll submit it.

..well thanks for the kind words everyone.. it was late last night when I was finishing it and I wasn't quite sure if everything fit (most notably the visibility of the text).. Everything's all set now, though I may eventually upload a new version if I see fit, with a general tweaking as well as the addition of more "twilight zone"-type elements
