Article about a Lost attraction

I love Lost. I hated TV until it. I was always more into movies and books, but then Lost came along and blew me away. The writing, acting, cinematography, and direction are all top notch. The ideas, both philisophical and supernatural, are thought provoking and often mind bending. Just great television all around. Lost was just the first of many serialized shows I'd get into, like The Wire, Deadwood, Rome, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad. All these shows are better than most films of the past decade, so it's really not fair to knock shows that attempt to give the viewer something more than a quick fix or a television Happy Meal. For those who can't catch serialized shows on a consistent basis...TV on DVD. You can't beat it.

Absolutely. I love when faux-elitists point to TV as a vast wasteland when the opposite is true. There's so much quality out there. Sadly, not as much on network TV anymore (something else you can blame on Wall Street, which doesn't allow shows even a few months to find audiences, much like the years it took even great ground-breaking show like All in the Family, M*A*S*H, etc to do do).

Anyway, rant aside, I don't see a Lost attraction happening. At least not soon. Like others have pointed out, the fanbase for Lost may be large, but it still isn't enough to appeal to everyone, like much of Disney does. Especially with the end approaching, it will still be sometime before Lost's true legacy can be written in stone. However, if Disney does find a way (god forbid) to keep the franchise going with spin off shows and what not...well then maybe we'll see some kind of attraction.

It just doesn't seem likely. I first broached the idea a few years ago with one of the 'stars' of the show and later with a pair of writers and ... well, they all thought it would be 'great' and 'fun' and 'a no-brainer for a company like Disney' ... yet, nothing.

You have parks like DCA, TPFKaTD-MGMS, DSP that are perfect locations thematically ... and if you wanted to do something wild on a large scale for a limited number of folks there's an ISLAND sitting in the middle of Bay Lake. But I wouldn't be loading a backpack with Dharma supplies yet (do we have a smoke monster smiley? if not, we should send JT out into the jungle to bring us back one!)

The only reason why this is news is because Carlton and Damon have signed the petition and given it some attention. ... And while I know they'd like to see it happen, you can bet they're also thinking about the reality that the Lost gravytrain is going to be as common as polar bears in the tropics once this season reaches its conclusion.

I envy you Dave, seriously. In my line of work, my schedule is different from week to week, day to day ... long periods of work, sometimes many days straight ... and then slow periods. I honestly don't know what a schedule is.

Of course, if I did, I likely wouldn't be typing this now!

I never thought a 9 to 5 (oh heck, lets be real here, 8 to 6 on a good day) would be something someone envied. :)

I guess it is nice knowing that I have every Tuesday night, and the fourth (and if one exists, the fifth) Wednesday of every month free.

Disney - (1/11/10) Movieline has posted an interesting article claiming that Disney may very well be working on a ride themed around the popular LOST television series. It seems one idea being talked about included a ride that would use a Kuka Robocoaster style arm, much like what we will see used as the ride hardware for Universal’s Harry Potter themed dark ride in Orlando.

I haven't watched any of the Lost series but I want to. Does anyone know how a ride could be made of this show? And does anyone feel like Disney has been putting a lot of ideas into rides/attractions of franchises that are either over or are fading away? (American Idol, LOST, Kim Possible, etc.) I just don't see some of these standing the test of time. I'm all for new stuff though so I guess at least they are looking at bringing stuff in. This might be good for Adventureland or Animal Kingdom. Any ideas or rumors?

While we're talking about Lost....
Anybody tried to figure out the significance or these?

Well it is clearly a Last Supper reference. Locke (in the Jesus position) has already 'come back from the dead', maybe the position of the other characters has something to do with what they will do or what will happen to them in the new series, although i'm not sure what order people are stood in the last supper.

Well it is clearly a Last Supper reference.
Obviously.
What is easily seen is that:
1- Locke is in the Jesus position.
2- Sayid is in the Judas spot.
3- Kate is in the Mary Magdelene spot.

Meanings? Beats me.

Also:
In one Locke is smiling, in the other he isn't.
Miles and Claire switch places.
Jin and Sun change from together to apart.
Jack looks at Locke in one, not in the other.

Probably a connection when they named them, but not really in the show.
Something to remember, the "Locke" in the photo isn't really....well...let's not get into spoilers for those who haven't seen Season 5.:D

Ones this is all over, I AM going to have to get into this, huh?

IMHO, the name of the show describes what happens to the audience when they try to watch it.
:)

Only watchers who have no patience (or desire) to loose themselves in a complex, compelling and fascinating story.
As mentioned before, you can't "half watch" Lost. It takes a commitment, which it is well worth.

I watched about a season and a half.
In addition to the endlessly wandering plot, which maybe I didn't follow closely enough, I had trouble with these items, particularly #1:

1. They have the characters acting like emotional grammar school kids.

2. Their clothes are always in good shape even though they've been on the island a long time. Maybe they found some in the plane. Compare to real clothing on the TV show 'Survivor' after a few weeks. The women seem to still have make up and hair do's.

3. 'The Others' made no sense to me.

They say that to enjoy a movie you have to 'suspend your disbelief'.
I couldn't do that with this show.

I can see how some people would like this show.
I certainly like Kate; she's hot.
Have fun.

In response to the wandering plot, season 1 set up some mysteries, but it really started to wander in Season 2 and the writers admit to it. Because they had no idea when it was going to end, they didn't know how much time they had to buy with unveiling the real meat of the story. Seasons 3 til now become much more focused towards a conclusion. That said, the show raises questions as soon as it gives answers. It's meant to leave viewers confused, if you don't like that kind of thing then clearly it's not for you.

The show is a drama, people are going to act...dramatic. The acting on the show is superior to any other show on network TV. As far as their clothes and makeup, it's a TV show, they want their cast to remain attractive, so that those who aren't to clued in to the mystery aspect can still marvel at some eye candy (i.e. Kate). You also have to remember, that the characters do have access to make up, hygenic products, etc.

3. 'The Others' made no sense to me.

As far as the Others go, their true nature doesn't come into play until Season 3. So yeah, the Others make no sense if you don't stick with the show.
