I apologize if this has been discussed a million times before, but I've been wondering if I'm really that similar to everyone else here who loves WDW. What I mean is that I'm a HUGE WDW fan! But when it comes to Mickey, the characters, and all the cartoons, I can't say the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I love many of their movies, and have come to enjoy the characters, etc., but I don't decorate a Mickey/Disney themed Christmas tree. I don't have all sorts of Mickey art in my house. I'm really more of a fan of WDW. Something about it makes me very happy. When I'm there, all other issues just seem to melt away for 8 days.

So my question is, am I in a very small minority of people who enjoy WDW parks for what they are rather than everything Mickey and Disney? I assume that if you love everything Disney, that would include the parks. Does anyone else love WDW mostly for the parks?

By the way, if you by choice have a second Christmas tree dedicated to Disney/Mickey, you have to vote that you love all things Disney. :p I don't think you can have a Disney Christmas tree and not be one. :D

You sort of sound like me, Pepper's Ghost. I don't own Disney stuff or decorate my house with Disney in any way. I don't think I have a single Mickey thing in my house. I haven't even seen all of the movies. I don't really buy any souveniers from the parks for this reason.

I love the theme parks. I visit the theme parks often and I just love being there. I love the atmosphere, theming, rides etc. (not just WDW, but other Disney parks also).

I listen to theme park music while I drive, but not the music from the Disney movies.

Glad to find a kindred spirit!

EXCELLENT! I'm not alone in the universe! :p

I have to clarify one thing though. There are Disney things in my house, but they are not Mickey things. I'm a huge Haunted Mansion fan, and have a nice size collection of collectibles. I don't have much in the way of Mickey stuff, and what I do have, it's only because it's Mickey in a Haunted Mansion collectible. :p :ROFLOL:

Now, that isn't to say that I don't enjoy taking pics with the characters. I'll take a pic with them because it's part of the fun of the parks, but I can't say I've seen more than one Mickey cartoon, and that one didn't make me crave to see another. I do like Tigger though.

I'm pretty much a "parks only" fan (somebody has to be). For the most part, I haven't watched any of the films since I was a kid (1980s) and I couldn't tell you a single program on the Disney Channel. And, probably most importantly, my favorite attractions in the parks all tend to be ones that are park originals and not something based on (or tied to) a film; it drives me nuts when they add a character I don't know to a classic attraction (like the New Management at the Tiki Room).

I think this is why EPCOT Center was my favorite, and why I have become increasingly frustrated over the years with the changes to the park.

I'll probably get kicked off the boards for this, but I HATE Mickey Mouse. I can't stand his squeaky voice and I've just never enjoyed his cartoons. I do like other characters and I like a nice amount of the movies but the real draw to me is the parks. There is no place on earth like the Disney parks and I just love the feeling there.

Wow! I'm shocked that the votes are split 50/50 right now! That's a lot more of the parks fans than I thought there'd be. Very cool to not be alone. :)

LMAO! I'll vote that you get to stay. :D After all, this place is called WDW Magic.... not Mickey Mouse Magic. ;) I personally don't hate Mickey Mouse, but he's not my favorite cartoon character.... and I LOVE cartoons. :p

You are not alone! I am not a fan of Mickey either, he always seemed like a jerk in his cartoons to me. And it sorta stinks that I do since people know that I'm a big WDW fan, they assume I love Mickey and give me Mickey-related gifts

But yeah I'm a fan of the Disney parks and the history of the Disney company, but I'm not big on the films/characters. I mean, of course I like them, but I don't watch them all the time and I don't go to meet and greets in the parks. I avoid them at all cost

Hey Girl! LOL! You chicks and your Dooney bags.... and Coach and whatever else. Those things are like crack. :ROFLOL:

Heyyyy now, c'mon. I don't have a *thing* for designer purses. I have a thing for DISNEY designer purses.

Dooney/Coach/whatever else don't really do much for me.. I'm usually more about quantity than name branding (and sometimes even quality ;))

But when Disney is involved, a 100$ purse seems like it MIGHT be an okay life decision..

I honestly didn't know you could be obsessed with the parks and not have the same enthusiasm with their movies.

Well, I thought I was in a very small minority to be honest. There's so much at the parks to enjoy aside from character-related stuff, but I assumed that I was different than most on this forum in that way.

I guess I'm an all thing disney fan. It started with my love for WDW and branched out. I already was a fan of several animated movies, but then I began to get curious and watched pretty much every disney animated movie just to see how they match up to my favorites. I'm not as big of a fan as I used to be, but I still am. I have a couple of WDW related things in my house/room, not nearly as much as I've seen from other people but still enough to be classified as a disney fan.

LOL! You're more about the quantity of bags, huh? That puts you in the top 99% of all women. :p Let me guess.... you're all about the cute high heel shoes too. That's a real stretch, huh?

But give it time. Once you get older and have "too many" bags, as if that's possible, that's when you'll start going for the designer bags. I've seen this before some place...... oh WAIT! That's right. Every girl I've ever known is like this.

I am a Disney fan though and through! My house isn't over run with Disney but almost every room has at least one thing. Whether it be a Mickey plush on a shelf, kitchen timer, or a picture frame of my GF and I at WDW! But at 23 I am still very much a kid. I love toys, I still love cartoons (not so much the ones on TV today, but that's why the internet was created) and I love the child-like feeling Disney gives me.

That being said, the parks are what started it for me. So I also have quite a love for the parks as well. Even on a high school trip to WDW while most people were riding RnR and ToT over and over because they were the only 'thrill' rides I was taking pictures with characters and riding the tea cups!

The Parks! We listen to the Disney Parks CDs enroute to and from on our trips, and we do have a nice collection of the mostly animated movies. But its the parks, with the rides and attractions, shows and music. Oh, and the food. :)
