Are you 23?

Welcome to the boards.. I like the name :)

I read that the people who hate D23 want it to succeed... Yet, you won't join to help it succeed... Where is that logic???
I won't join because it's paying to go shopping. I've said that already. Disney can make this thing succeed if they add things to it.

They had a viral marketing campaign... I think it worked wonders.. got thousands, maybe millions of Disney fans buzzing on the internet and listening on podcasts.. I think marketing hit a home run on this... They are loosing people who who claim to want it to succeed but because they aren't giving them what they want, they refuse to join...

Not bad marketing on their part but a selfish, me first fanboy attitude on theirs... Also, why do they have to tell you what MAY be in store? Cause others want them to? There is that selfish attitude again... :)

Like gothmickey said, you and others would complain if they announced something more and it didnt 1) meet YOUR standards and 2) never got off the ground..
Yep...The Viral Campaign was a good idea. I liked it. However, it didn't live up to anything.

No selfish attitude, just good marketing sense. Only showing only one of the features of a new house is not a way to sell a new house. Show ALL of it's amenities of new house and you raise more interest.

I have no idea how that's selfish.

If that amenity of a new house isn't READY yet, how can it be shown off??? That's the question... Let's say they do have more planned... It just may not be approved or ready to go.. so why announce it if it may NEVER happen??

And this is coming from someone who also has not joined up.. LOL...

It isn't juvenile... it is the truth :)
Sure.:)

OK, then this is Typical Disney Poor Planning!:lol:

Just setting up a online mall? No hints or anything finalized for the future? TWDC is bigger and better than that. I'm sure they have something else planned for D23. But until they show it to us (and thus proving us wrong- something I pray they do!) this D23 "FanMallClub" is foolish.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before in this thread as it has 86 pages but it does pertain to D23 so I thought that I would bring it up here.

I was watching the trailer for D23 at the Disney site, the 2 minute 30 second version. Around the middle of it they start showing clips from different animated films. One clip happened to be Brear Rabbit jumping in the air.

I'm thinking that this may have been a way of saying that Song of the South *might* be available on DVD and BluRay through D23 at some point. It would certainly be of intrest to 'real fans' and would shut us up about it without having to release it to the general public.

I'm not saying I have any inside info about this at all, I'm just saying that if they really did want to appeal to the hardcore Disney crowd, this would be one way to do it. And yes, I would probably join if they offered SOTS in a nice Special Edition or any other rare programs on DVD.

I thought it was interesting they had a Song of the South Lithograph

SWING AND A MISS!!!!

Stop putting ridiculous words in people's mouths in a pitiful attempt at argument.

Nobody's complaining that they didn't give us what we want.

We're complaining because they didn't give us what they say.

They say they're giving us a fan community. We're getting a magazine subscription with a few parting gifts.

I don't want anything, other than for Disney to stop acting like their fans and customers are nincompoops.

If Song of the South is released Exclusively through D23 then count me as Being 23. I would much rather have an official version with extras (yes I am one of the few people I know that actually watch all of the features on a dvd... I have no Life) ..
Agreed. I would pony up for that too.

Nice vid, really!

But why was it DL oriented? Only one shot of MK? Where was EPCOT? DHS? AK?

It seems to me that D23 is heavily Disneyland oriented. That's really surprising to me.

I guess it's kind of understandable as the exec who is in charge of it is from SoCal, got a job working at Disneyland in college, and has remained in SoCal as he progressed through his Disney career.

But the D23 magazine had primarily Disneyland stuff in regards to Parks info, the D23 Expo has been slotted for the Anaheim Convention Center across from Disneyland until 2013, and the D23 artist signing for the launch artwork happened at... wait for it... Disneyland USA!

Granted, Disneyland has the biggest community of fans when it comes to spendy Disneyana merchandise, and an extremely passionate group of locals living in SoCal.

Heck, 700,000 Disneyland Annual Pass holders can't be wrong.

But it seems the D23 launch offerings are not adequately representing the other Disney property here in America, let alone the three other spots around the world.

That is surprising, yet I suppose understandable when you realize who the executive leadership is behind the D23 concept.

Right. Shame that this isn't WDW oriented too...That's another thing I'm a little bothered over.

I do think this comes down to you all think they OWE you something... They OWE you nothing.. Don't like it, don't join... But stop acting like you DESERVE something from them... You don't....

Sure you did. All you (the '46'ers) do is complain about what isn't offered. The magazine isn't good enough, the other stuff (which you dont even know what it is) isn't good enough, etc etc. Everything they add won't be good enough, because you'll find something wrong with it.

We get it, you don't like it. So then ignore it already.

Oh yeah, becuase I whould be thrilled at the concept that Disney is making me pay for a online mall!:sohappy: I'll be a TRUE Disney fan if I shop there!:sohappy::rolleyes:

Never mind the fact that I've grown up with WDW,the movies, and the beliefs/philosophy of Walt. Never mind that.

D23 can DEFINITELY be good enough. In fact, I want it to be. I said if before: I WANT TO BE WOWED. I want Disney23 to be something uniquely Disney. That's why I'm so disappointed. That's why I'm complaining. This is just a mall. The fans want more.:D

I dunno... I'm just not in a happy mood right now... My friend lost her job and is now on the verge of losing everything and I feel bad for her...

Sorry guys... Forget my posts... really... I get your disappointment and frustration over this D23 thing... Forget I ever said anything... I will stay away from posting until I am feeling more up beat... :(

Maybe I can just add one suggestion.... And I am not trying to be rude or going on a tirade.. After this I am not posting until I am feeling better, but, maybe the complaining shouldn't be online here or on facebook.. Maybe, you all should, maybe we ALL should contact Disney and voice disappointment... Just cause people don't join, doesn't mean they get it.. Voices are always louder than words.. I bet, I just bet that they would listen intently to the concerns because they don't want this to be a failure...

Agreed. I have thought about sending some PDF's from the Facebook page into TWDC.

Again, sorry.
