Are you 23?

Judging from the poster alone, my gut instinct is that it is not a movie poster. Can't say I've seen one in recent years that just says "Disney," if anything I would expect it to have Walt Disney Pictures. Now, the source said it came from Burbank, if it was at Team Disney, it could be anything, but if it is at the Studios, there is a higher chance it is for some sort of film production.

Can't be release of a film, since March 10 is a Tuesday. Tuesday is normally the day for DVD releases (I don't know why, but I've been told that it is), but that doesn't really help, since I can't figure out what 23 would have to do with a DVD release.

Maybe it just means they're adding Dr. Pepper to the vending machines that day, since Dr. Pepper's ad campaign is about having 23 flavors.

Not knowing anything about the form of addressing internal Disney websites use, but can anyone verify if disney.com/23 works within the Disney corporate network? If it is an internal only poster for an internal only campaign it is very possible that the URL listed only works for the Disney Intranet, and not the Internet at large.

Well I've wracked my brain and checked out every "this day in history" type website and didn't find anything Disney related at all, let alone in 1986. There are also no prominent Disney Stars, Disney movie releases or Disney related importance to that date as far as I can tell.

I'm at a loss.

...

p.s. I'm 24. Which it one whole better than 23! So na-na-nan!

It would be fairly unlikely that the Disney intranet site would be addressed like that. If it was internal it wouldn't be a disney.com style of address. For example where I work our main intranet home page would be something like "http://mickey/intra/home" and everything else is a variation of that. Most internal corporate sites follow a similar addressing style because the pages are hosted locally on their own network vs. over internet routing.

Note: I don't work for Disney nor have I ever so I don't know how there intranet is addressed. I just used "mickey" for the server name because all the servers where I work are named after Disney characters ... Mickey, Goofy, SnowWhite, WALL-E ... yes we are that crazy.

Not necessarily. Yes, many companies do set up a different extension, or don't use one at all as in your example, but not all do. Many sites will actually bring you directly to the intranet locally, or not work at all if you try to access their internet site. Case in point, for a while going to www.bestbuy.com from within a bestbuy store took you to a "secret internal copy" of bestbuy.com that had prices that were higher than were on the site if you accessed it from your home.
I'm only asking this because I work in the IT industry and have been responsible for several intranet sites. (Haven't personally set them up to use the .com, but know of others who are)

The offices for Lost are in building 23.

Probably unrelated, but since we are throwing out references to the number ...
