Aquarium Restaurant

What's wrong with Landry's? Food's nothing spectacular, but Rainforest and T-Rex are both great fun.

Maybe for you.

Me? I enjoy a good meal and being able to hear someone talk that's 2 feet away, rather than having to scream over growls, thunderstorms, and metero showers.

I always enjoyed eating there with the looming threat of a new ice age hanging all around me......

More of JT04's bold new vision!

If it was my vision they would have real belgian waffles on the menu and at a walk up window. :slurp:

Spot on leave the casual fans head to rainforest:hurl:
Trex and Aquarium and wel all hav our Le Cellier Cali Grill Jiko Boma and others all to ourselves:sohappy:

This is a great way to look at it. Larger families, both locals and those from away, can't afford the "higher end" dining experiences at WDW as much. This gives families on a budget a chance to have a "sit down meal" more often.

Maybe they should open a 'Meat Loaf and Green Bean Casserole' resturant.
The masses would be all over that.

Add corn bread and I'm there.

How many times must I mention it. Most posters here are not the target audience of RF, T-Rex or other Landry offerings. DTD is being geared towards families. There are tons of more sophisticated options at WDW. I'm not suprised by the same people who can't see it's not all about them.

I love this idea, and it ties in with the lighthouse rumor. If I was in charge of the bold new vision, I'd have Imagineering design the lighthouse and have it "perform" a light show every hour or once a night. Anyone who saw The Who at the super bowl has a good idea of what they can do with LED's and computers these days. :dazzle:

And what of the people who want to visit DTD without going to the parks, and still want a high quality meal with out the deafening atmosphere and toddlers screaming?

Bongos, Paradiso, Fultons, Portabello, Cap'n, Wolfgang's (upstairs)

Plenty of options.

If its anything like the Aquarium/Restaurant and lounge owned by Laundry's here in Denver then it will be pretty interesting and fun. However another Laundry's restaurant  Ground breaking!

Plenty of options.

Most of which, besides Paradiso(which I found to be incredibly bland), is in the upper price range.

No where to get a decent priced, relaxing meal.

Well let's hope if a lighthouse light show ever comes it's more entertaining than The Who's halftime show. The lights were the only mildly interesting part. Lol!

The one time I ate at The Aquarium I was there with my family: hubby, 2 sons, & inlaws. The place is definitely more of a destination than a place to go for good food. I've been far more impressed with Trex. The prices were not what I'd think of as inexpensive. Think TRex or Rainforest and add several bucks to each dish because it's seafood. It wasn't inexpensive by a long shot (like Chilis or Applebees or something).

I don't think The Aquarium would be a bad addition, it's just not one I personally would be inclined to eat at. Then again, I don't really care for seafood so that's kinda a no-brainer.

Anyone who was actually at the game can tell you that while the light show was amazing, there is very little that can be done to change the fact those are two old dudes and sound like it.

Oh, and on the topic at hand, I wouldn't be surprised if this happened.

Disney has been very good to Landry's bottom line (the DD RC is one of their most profitable locations out of all their concepts, hundreds of locales world-wide) ... and they seem to be the only company that is very interested in expanding their footprint at WDW.

The retaurant sounds cool! The Corl Reef on steroids will be a welcome to DTD. Any thing at this point is welcomed, especially at PI it's just a ghost town over there. Not very many seafood places in Florida. Ironicly we are surrounded by water.

Anyone who's been to the Coral Reef in the past few years will tell you it long ago dropped any pretense of being a seafood locale.

You might find pork chops, chicken, steak, pasta and even salmon on the menu ... but you won't find lobster ... and much from the sea beyond shrimp.

Sharks Underwater Grill at Sea World is much better.

Sadly, yes. They've taylored their menue to be more kid-friendly. And that's not the only place that's done it. A lot of WDW restaurants have changed in this way.

Oh Akershus, how I miss you!

Would you like to turn this into a DDP Bashfest thread?:)

The kid friendly part is just a small faction of the above. Ultimately, they've just dumbed down dining all over the place ... mostly because it is cheaper to do so, but simple palates have a lot to do with it too.

When you see the vast amount of morbidly obese guests dining on burgers, pizza and chicken fingers, Disney uses that as an excuse to dumb those menus down.

Coral Reef was always a favorite of mine and I eat very little seafood. But I never would have expected them to change to suit my tastes.

Fulton's blows Coral Reef out of the water now.
