I know I'm a tad outdated obviously but I can still remember World of Motion from the first time I visited Epcot back in '82. I thought it was a very cool ride(mind i was a kid at the time) and I don't remember the scenery being too much different than Spaceship Earth or other rides. I do like Test Track, but I just wish that in order for us to have something new they wouldn't feel the need to get rid of the originals. It isn't like they are out of room or anything..LOL Oh well... just a thought...

I use to love that ride alot... I wish they would have moved Test Track somewhere else instead of taking down WOM, of course all rides come to this :(.

I loved the scenery and stuff in this, I just loved the whole ride, When i was little Dad & Mom said my favorite part, was when i saw a guy with the ''hot foot" i guess that would be in the begening when he is blowing on his foot cause its on fire....

I always got scared on the part with the big screne and all that... and it moved around like on Buzz Lightyear..

Guess all rides come to this point and WOM just did.... :(. But we still have to be happy with TT We miss WOM though.

hey Horizons1 by the way i love that Avatar thats awesome man.. :slurp: :animwink:

World of Motion was ok, but I didn't like its dependancy on movie screens for scenery. It was like they cheaped out, and instead of putting more theming in, they threw up a screen. It's a good idea for a few scenes, but not every single one. The beginning and end were the best parts.

I only rode it once and that was way back in 1991..when I was only about 5 or 6. I sure would like to ride it again now though....not only because it's Epcot History, but my favorite of the Nine Old Men animators helped Design it and since he just passed, I would ride it as a sort of tribute.....Of course, I am talking about the late, great Ward Kimball. May he rest in Peace.

heh, I rode it all the time when we went, I think it was actually pretty neat how they got the cars to spyro up the into the ride itself... It was pretty unique, and i only remember some of the great theming on the ride. :)

Gosh, everyone mentions their fond memories of riding it when they were little kids (suddenly I feel old comparatively)!

I miss World of Motion (and Horizons too for that matter). However (and I'll probably get hate mail for saying this), I think there are some Disney attractions that have a great lifecycle and then are best left in our happy memories of them.

For example (and this will really show my age), I remember Carousel of Progress when it was at Disneyland and how disappointed I was when they dismantled it and moved it to Florida. They replaced it with America Sings which seemed terrible by comparison. But the truth is, if COP had remained at Disneyland all these years, I honestly don't know how often I would have ridden it anymore. And ironically, I wish I could ride America Sings again (just for old times sake). Adventure Thru Inner Space was always one of my all time favorite DL attractions, and I miss that one more than any of the others. But truthfully, if it were still there, I am sure that lines would be practically non-existent and people would be saying things like, "That ride's so cheesy! They should tear it down and replace it with....maybe a space ride or something!" And to this day, whenever I visit DL I walk right past Enchanted Tiki Room all the time and think "I should ride that,...maybe on my next visit". I'm sure if, and when, it is ever torn down, I'll feel that same sense of longing.

Of course these examples may not be good ones because they all refer to DL, where limited real estate actually IS an issue they don't have at WDW (and why they wasted 55 acres of it on a loser like California Adventure I'll never understand...but that's another issue altogether). But my point is, I think it is the "absence makes the heart grow fonder" philosophy.

Okay, now that I've done a pretty sucky job of getting my point across....Let the hate mail roll in!!

Actually I kinda agree with you Merlin, I loved if you had wings nad 20k in WDW, but looking back at the little bit of footage I've seen online, I would probobly say they were boring and cheesy if they were still around. Though I want them back none the less. I love COP too, but have skipped it the last 3 times I was in The World. I guess our minds remember things in their best light.

Where can I find a memory refresher online? I was young then and can barely remember it.

iI miss it to, but I also enjoy TT allot, I wish they would make a new park, and call classic Disney or something along those lines, and have it all the old rides, like WOM, JIYI, or horizons, toads, well you get the idea, and as rides get to that point, they could move it to the other. I think no matter how good a new ride will be there will be people who miss the old attractions, plus you'll have a hole generation that didn't get to experience them either, plus it would be, a merchandise bonanza, think you could get classic WDW Shirts, movies, and that kind of thing, and it would be the only place to get them, Sorry if I got a little of subject

I think it wasn't disney that wanted the ride changed but GM the sponsor of world of motion that did the majority of the change. I mis world of motion, luckly I got to ridr horizons before they tore it down, whish I did the same for mr. toad because that one was my all time favorite since I was like 5 years old. you know disney could make a whole new theme park with all the attractions they dismantled. Call it the Disney Museum park. instead of takeing down a ride they can move it to the museum park. they could have a history of disney himself (actually I think there is an exibit of walt in MGM for the 100 yom celebration) and instead of the castle being in the center of the park it could be the entrance, in the entrance hall through the castle would be advertisements for new shows, movies, and attractions, and then set the whole park up lke a museum with all the old rides that no longer exisit in disney world or disney land. that would be cool.

WoM was one of my favorite things to do at Epcot. That and SE were the two that I rode everytime I went. Do I miss it, yes, but do I understand why they built TT, of course. Most people get tired of riding the same rides over and over, and when something new gets built it gets them to come back to the park. As for Horizons, I remember riding it when it was reopened since TT was still being tested (even though it should have been opened) and thinking to myself, man this ride is SOOO outdated. I know a ton of people on the boards here loved that ride, but I feel that the Space pavillion was the best idea they've had for Epcot in a long time. Let's hope they do something goo with the Living Seas next.

I loved the old WOM ride. My two favorite parts was the train hold up area and the flight area. I loved the policeman behind the sign with the radar gun!!

...it wouldn't surprise me if Wonders of Life isn't the NEXT attraction that pops up on the radar screen to be nuked.

I miss the old rides, but I also like the new ones that have replaced them. I miss the WOM beginning when you go up the circle and see others waiting in line or entering the building. I will always miss old attractions, but sometimes you just have to replace outdated rides. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of mr toad, though. it's not like it was outdated, and i'm sure they could have put pooh someplace else. maybe their 5th park could be a park with old attractions, like WOM, Horizons, Mr. Toad, Dreamflight, etc. now that would be something.
