Why does this line tend to make me a little fearful of "UNM: The Adventure Continues...." ????

I know this is blasphemous, but the original Tiki Room is a nostalgia show for me, and if I see it once every 5 years that's more than enough. Admittedly, Under New Management made it worse... much much worse.

I'd like to see the full "Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" song return, after that I'd like to see something new and exciting. I understand that this is at best a C-Ticket attraction so my expectations can't be too high, but if it's something that brings me in the doors more than twice a decade I'd consider it a success.

I so agree....I live down the road from Disneyland and as much as the original show is "Walt" I think more people go in for the Dole Whips and A/C then the love of the tiki room. I see why Disney has decided to leave the one here as it because it is where it all started, but really how is it half the people that are saying anything but the original show coming back they will mess up....but I am sure in other posts say how sick they are of just having copies of the same old stuff? I will welcome whatever happens with the show and hope it is better then everything that has come before it!

Not me. I think that anything other than the original or slightly-modified DL version would be a mistake. And I couldn't care less if they clone attractions from resort to resort. The Temple of the Forbidden Eye should have been built in WDW for a decade. Bringing Soarin to WDW? A no-brainer (I'm not sure I would have built it in The Land pavilion, but I digress ...). The Little Mermaid in both California and Florida? Again, a no-brainer.

First...why would it be a mistake to have something new and original in the MK?

Second...the original was the DL version, the Dl version is a modified version of the original.

I know everyone thinks that have the original back would be the bees-knees, but what would happen in a year when everyone has seen it and the "what Walt created" hype has died down? Then it turns into "it's time to update this show" why not just cut out the middle man and go for a new version. If you want the Enchanted Tiki Room come out to Disneyland, but put in a new show to add to the millions and millions of people who come out to WDW each year!

In California, I was so surprised when people actually sang with the birds during the show. In Florida, only the Disney nerds would sing with the birds, the general public probably thinks it's boring. It's a different market in Florida.

I personally would like to see the Stitch version there, but at least change out the UNM version, it's about time.

Here in Ca we are all the AP holders so we are the Disney geeks! But yes Florida is not for the locals, it is all about the people who will drop a few thousand on planning a vacation. Remember it is the Vacation Kingdom!

First...why would it be a mistake to have something new and original in the MK?

1. Because I don't trust WDI to create something better, and
2. Because people are still going to want the original; they are not going to go away just because something else got put in that spot.

Disney has been gifted an opportunity to restore some of the goodwill that they used to have in copious amounts. They can accept that gift, or decline and gamble.

Second...the original was the DL version, the Dl version is a modified version of the original.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here, but I was making a distinction between the original (with Offenbach) and the modified-DL version (without Offenbach). I'd prefer the original, but if they removed the Offenbach number, I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it.

1 and 2.....you would only be happy if everything was the same way it was when MK opened it seems and that is fine. We will enjoy the change.

As for what I was trying to say was that the show had changed....do you know why they changed the show? They changed the show for the same reason they changed the show in MK from TS to UNM because people were not going to see the original because it was to long and people had lost interest in the show. I look forward to whatever might be coming down the line and happen to know some of those WDI folks and I think they do great jobs!

I disagree with your premise regarding MK and TS.

That's fine, we can agree to disagree.

Ok, what would be your take on why they would take (as you seem to think) a great show that was always pulling in a packed house and change it? Because it was not pulling in the numbers, just like Mission to Mars, Circle Vision or any of the other show based attractions that have come and gone in the past 56 years a Disney park has been around.

It is sad but true, money drives the world and the Disney World is no different. Instead of putting money time and time again in a aging show that was not getting any numbers put in a good investment and update/change/replace the old show that everyone has seen with something that they hope people will come and see.

I think Disney management (post-Frank Wells) has a nasty habit of saying to itself "What attraction do we have with no characters featured? And what character can we cram in there for 'synergy'?" And because of this, we get things like Stich's Great Escape, Nemo Cabs, the new dolls in IASW, Tarzan's treehouse and UNM. It's their crutch.

There's nothing wrong with capitalizing off of your brands in a synergistic way. But only a fool would think that Disney hasn't forced some of the changes we've seen in the past few years. Walt Disney also wasn't afraid to offer completely original attractions either.

Tiki Room's original show would be great.

I don't care about updates on POTC.

Haunted Mansion's new affects and queue, at first not interested but it's looking pretty nice.

FL Expansion, the rides sound great!

Space Mountain clone, huh?

TTA Narration, not like this attraction is worth a refurbishment, perhaps if SM goes under a refurb again it would be nice.

Penny Arcade ect., don't care

Alien Encounter or Mission to Mars, don't think it'll happen, unless Mission: Space would be changed to Mission to Mars at EPCOT.

Horizons, hold your breath.

Original Imagination, perhaps a possibility but with a new story.

SE upgrade, don't care.

Wonders of Life update, as in not demolishing at and bringing back BW and CC? YESS!!!

Universe of Energy update/original, refurbishment? Yes. Replacement? Least of Disney's concerns.

LAL tomstones, don't care.

Tarps ect., don't care.

Very true, they dont seem to be doing that anymore at all. I dont think we will ever see something as original as Dreamflight, World of Motion, Horizons, Alien Encounter etc etc, again. Everything is being aimed at the preschool set with characters infused into it. Which is fine to some extent, but at the same time it wouldnt hurt them to do something totally original minus characters and movie franchises. Soarin was the most recent I guess. Im just hoping Iago is out of the tiki room.

Awhile back someone said as a rumor that the Orange Bird would be the host of the show,,,,was that a total joke or doable rumor?

True. Walt Disney also prized entertainment over something boring.

Has Disney forgotten, or they probably don't realize that one of their bigger franchises these days comes from an "original" attraction... Pirates of the Caribbean. If only Disney let Imagineers actually imagine these days.

It'd be nice if they could come up with a new version of the Tiki Room show, but I haven't the faintest idea where to begin on that. UNM obviously didn't work. What Tokyo Disney has... I saw it, but I can't say it's worth cloning. So perhaps the original is the best way to go.

May we find out what they do before Christmas!
