It wasn't line-cutting.If it's true that this fight has to do with line cutting then I think it's time Disney does what other parks and start kicking people out that cut lines.
I really don’t want to start this argument again, but I’ve seen groups with their “Drinking around the World” shirts so sloshed and belligerent that if they were on my scooter, they would’ve been pulled over for DWI…of course not every group is like that and there are plenty of happy drunks, but itMostly folks who are too weak to hold their booze. I’ve had drinks from all 11 pavilions before and never felt the need to throw down in a theme park
They absolutely can detain people. At least when it comes to theft. Not sure about this situation though.Disney Security is not the police. They don't have the authority to arrest or detain people.
Nope. They can ask you to 'come with us' etc but they cannot put their hands on anyone or force anyone to stay in an office or elsewhere. If they bring you somewhere, you are free to leave at any time. They absolutely can detain people. At least when it comes to theft. Not sure about this situation though.
The same way they do at Walmart or anywhere. Ask the people to follow them and bring them to a room while the police are on their way and arrive. Then how do they catch the shoplifters?
As we continue to glorify violent entertainment, we are becoming an ever increasingly violent society...
Ive never worked for Disney. But i assume there are guidelines. A huge brawl where nobody is really getting hurt.. just make sure the other guests are safe. IF someone is going to die or is being hurt without fighting back might be look at differently than a mutual combatants situation. Also you have different security, you have cast members, and you have security.. if security is nearby they will usually break up anything. Cast members could prob be fired, but someone being attacked might still jump in depending on the person. I do wonder if security numbers have been cut with the other budget cuts. And that is something they would never announce due to lawsuit implications.Disney security is probably in a bad spot for a situation like this.
That being said I do remember one instance where a woman parked her ecv right in front of another woman before a parade and made her angry. The woman then took a disposable camera and began bashing her head with it repeatedly. Security appeared out of nowhere. I mean it literally looked like they appeared out of a portal and disappeared into one as well. It was amazing.
For a brawl like this? That's a big nope for most people. You can try to hold someone back, but what if they just strike you? It's tough because the CMs aren't paid enough for it and I'd imagine unless something horrible was happening most people would be like
I thought i heard that too, but i wasnt sure if i did or not. And wasnt sure if it was the crowds or the people in the fight.. kind of how the N word is usedI heard a few “monkey” hurls in that video.
The racism jumped out.
With that said, all of them should be banned not only from all Disney parks, not just WDW.
Even in Epcot. If that person is severely injured due to their situation, or injures someone else, thats a lawsuit on Disney. How about if people are in a car accident later, the lawyers will go after disney for over serving. Regardless, even though most of us on here are adults, this is a kids playground.. yes even world showcase. Alcohol is fine but there should never be a point where someone is drunk, vomiting, or even staggering. I am all for alcohol being served, but the servers have to be trained to look for signs and cut people off, if people become belligerent have them nicely escorted out. If an employee overserves for a tip or they want to be the fun employee, they should be fired. I also think in areas where alcohol is served (drinking around the world especially) they should double the security looking for drunkenness, at what you pay for that drink clearly disney can afford to pay a few.Yeah, I fully agree. I was shocked and had to bite my tongue when they told me this. Especially in MK. I can understand why they pour a little heavier in EPCOT, but there's no reason anyone needs to be belligerent in Magic Kingdom.
It takes an errant punch, someone stepping back on a stroller, someone thrown on top of a kid or something thrown at the crowd, for one of these to get really bad. Its only a matter of time before a kid (or baby) gets seriously injured, a older person breaking a hip, or an innocent family injured for this to get alot of unwanted attention and pr for disney. This isn't just unique to MK/DL.
I was at DLP on Bastille Day last week. You know how at MK, CMs would form pathways and keep them clear with their glow sticks? That's pretty nonexistent there (at least on that night). Usually there are ways to cross Main Street at the end of the street before the hub, but there was nothing. Even the pathways next to the buildings were not kept clear at all.
People were just crossing at will, pushing/shoving, a free-for-all. Parents were literally carrying strollers above guests heads just to cross the sea of people. People were also literally sitting/standing on top of trash cans, never told to get off for safety.
Anyways, I was positioned at the end of MS for the fireworks. About a dozen feet away from me, this family was trying to cross. I guess they did some pushing while trying to get through and this upset someone. The one guy shouted so loudly at said family to not touch him or his wife (in English btw). They went back and forth and it escalated to some pushing. This went on for over 5 mins, and not one CM/security intervened. Tbh, I couldn't even spot a single CM in the crowds of people while waiting for/watching the fireworks. I felt bad for the children there because they were just there...barely able to stand...crying..
They were eventually pulled apart by some bystanders and they went there separate ways after more shouting. I often wonder if that escalated even more, people (and kids) could've gotten hurt, and there was no way help could have arrived soon due to how mismanaged the crowds were. Security never showed up either.
I didn't get to record any videos, but I was trying to spot a CM to get help. But me being 5'4 (everyone is so tall!) and literally being squished in all directions, I was practically useless.
Crowd control really needs to be improved over there at DLP at night, because what I witnessed was far different (and unsafe) than how MK does their crowd control during fireworks. At least there are designated pathways with CM's always keeping them clear before and during showtime.
