Another death at WDW

Wow! Regrets to the family.

I have just come back from WDW (no time yet for a trip report, maybe early next week), but it was very hot there. Could be heat stroke, as others have suggested.

I just saw the Orlando Sentinel website today. Had not heard about the DCA event or the near-fatal diving incident at the Dolphin hotel (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busi...jul28,0,3513870.story?coll=orl-home-headlines) until today. Missed it in the Orlando Sentinel print edition that I bought. I know more about WDW from WDW Magic than I hear onsight! Does anyone know how the 16-year-old Dolphin diver is now? Is he O.K.?

I think people can see the difference between a death at Disney and a death caused by Disney.

It just really makes me mad when news organizations skew the story against Disney with comments like: "marking the third time in three months that a young person has suddenly fallen critically ill at the Walt Disney World theme park."

OMG, that girl is from where i live. Is there any where they list a name?? This is so sad! Why is disney having such bad luck? I still cant believe this girl is from where i live...

I work for a TV station and the 12-year-old girl's identity will likely remain unidentified per proper notification of direct family members. The name could then be released, if it is okay by the family, which then instructs the authorities.

If the family says no, the girl will remain nameless.

As of Tuesday I know he was breathing (maybe on a vent) but certainly not "OK". I think they violated about 11 safety rules regarding commercial diving. Someone (not Disney) is in big doo doo! Disney had a small army of Lifeguards doing the CPR war chant (one and two and three and four...) prior to EMS arrival.

This is truly an unfortunate incident any death old or young is always a sad case. Disney may in the eyes of some seem to be having a run of bad luck but you must figure in the sheer volume of people that pass thru its gates and parks on a daily bases, We have locally a large park that admits roughly a third of the volume of people into it seasonaly, two parks one water one rides. The volumes do not even compare to that of Disney and we see almost as many accident injuries and yes sometimes a death as Disney has this year, Is the park unsafe NO its just the odds of life. Disneys incidents get national attention well because its Disney you never know on average what your local parks are encountering as such cases as this.

Again saddness becomes Disney and best wishes to the family of this child.

I do have faith in humanity, but i feel as though its been tainted, poisoned, by the media and commercialism (to name a few)

I dont believe that the human animal is as dumb as it seems

Sorry, but Florida is a "sunshine" state. It's public information. The family has no authority to keep the ID hidden.

Even when the girl is under 16?

Very Sad news. We saw 2 lifeguard rescues at TL last year in the wave pool when they had to evacuate it completely. The person was floated out on a stretcher, loads of lifeguards obviously. I didn't see the other myself, but for the one I did see, they seemed to be ok, and obviously there was a HUGE crowd (since they had evacuated the pool) and there was a huge cheer when she went to hospital sitting up on the trolley. They really are great lifeguards.

i feel very sorry for her family..but as but disney look at it this way there are so many people in the parks every day every year. there is bound to be a bad luck streak and they are in it now. it is was that dangerous to be in disney i think more people would be getting hurt. besides she was only at a wave pool(if i am correct). :(

It's Florida in the summer, probably heat stroke. Regrets to the family :(

And what a HOT summer it has been thus far...people should take the proper precautions to ensure they stay safe in the heat and crowds. This is sad news, NOT for Disney, but for the family of this girl.

My thoughts and prayers go to the family, and the other families that have lost loved ones this summer.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

These incidents that have occurred in the last three months I believe most people will understand the difference between an accident, and these unknown reasons that these young people have passed away. <o:p></o:p>

Disney is not in trouble.

Remember a few years ago all the shark "attacks" in Daytona Beach, FLA? It was all over the national news. Live broadcasts from the beach. Well a teenage girl was killed in the Gulf near Panama this year, then the teenage boy was bitten 80 miles south of there. AND there have been three reported attacks in Daytona in the last two weeks. Has this been on the national news? NO...because people are bored with the shark attacks. The media has decided that since Disney has been in the news so much lately with their 50th anniversary, then anything Disney negative is newsworthy.

Its anyones guess as to who the media's target will be for the summer of '06.

On a separate note my thoughts & prayers go out to this young lady's family.

I feel sorry for Disney for all of this negative publicity, and even sorrier for the family. It has to be absolutely horrible to lose a child, especially on vacation.
