Hi All,

i have a random annual pass question...if my DH and I got annual passes, do they ID you each time you go in to make sure you match the ticket or do you just slide your ticket in?

Thanks for your help!!!

When we go, they just run the ticket and scan your fingertip (I assume to verify it's really you)

I would assume it's tied to your finger scan like other passes, but I could be wrong.

Sometimes those finger scans don't work and match up right and they still let you in. I was just wondering if it would be a problem. i've never had an annual pass and I am just trying to figure out the whole thing before I buy them.

What difference would it make then if you had to show your ID every time? Would that affect your decision?

No not at all...Just trying to figure out how the whole thing works that's all. This question pretty much stems from an experience we witnessed at US. I know they PALE in comparison to the Disney experience, and that was confirmed this summer when the DH and I decided to give US another chance. It was the 90's when we had been there last time so we figured, why not, lets see if it has changed. Changed...a little. But stuff didn't work and the attitude of the people there was just poor. Anywho...we were in line picking up our tickets behind a couple that were the annual pass holders and they were in line b/c there was a problem with them getting in through the normal ticket que. So we watched the grief they were given. I KNOW this is not what would happen at Disney - but it got me thinking to how does the process work at WDW.

Thanks!!

The rule is if your biometric did not work right and the Park Greeter was doing there job, they would and can asked to see a photo id.

I've never been asked to show my ID... The few times the finger reader isn't doing its job, the CM's have gone as far as asked us our names and looked at the pass (your name is printed on the pass) and said, "come on in!"

The only park I have to show my ID at and give a finger sample is SeaWorld.

As already stated, the procedure if your biometric scan doesn't work is for the Park Greeter to ask for photo ID to verify that the ticket is actually your's. That's not always what happens though.

Just wanted to add that Universal's AP now has your picture on it. As your pass goes through the turnstile the Team Member picks up the card gives the picture a glance and looks at you and let's you in typically saying "Welcome back (your name here)." It's a nice touch that I wish Disney did.

BTW, I've never been asked for my ID at Disney either.

The finger scan usually works. We have had AP for many years and since Disney went to the finger scan, we have not had a problem. We do occasionally have problems at Busch Gardens. The Sea World and Busch Garden scanners seem to take longer to verify. We just got Universal AP this weekend, no picture on it, but my DW did have to show her ID when the finger print scanner failed.

Hmm..interesting. Admittedly, I haven't held one for a couple of years, but the last time I was an AP holder at Universal my picture was on it. I guess times change!

Ugh, I'd rather not have my picture on my AP, thank you. I'm just not a very photogenic person, so I'd rather not have to look at my face everytime I take out my ticket.

And in reagrds to ID-ing you, never had it happen. There have been a few times where my mom had trouble with her ticket (turnstile wouldn't read it.) and the CM never asked for photo ID, they just waved her through. In fact, I've never seen where anyone had to show photo ID if their ticket could not be read, so the idea is kinda new to me.

Thanks for the tips. I think I have made up my mind and I am going to get an AP this year for the DH and I. I think that will work best for us. I've been going around and around with this for a few weeks now but I think I am just going to do it. :)

Does anyone know by chance if you get CS discounts if you get the dining plan for AP holders? I can only find a list of actual restaurants. Now I just need to decide if I am going to add on the DP to the AP pass. :veryconfu

Thanks for the info!

They do a bioscan of your finger.
If it does not work they ask you to go to guest services or the ticket office now. There you will need to show id.
You cannot let someone else use your pass any longer. Those days are over.

Just for the record, I've had several less than acceptable experiences with Disney regarding getting in with an annual pass. Let's not blindly give out praise while completely bashing the competition :wave:I'd bring your ID with you whenever you visit the parks, there are going to be instances when your pass won't scan or your finger will read incorrectly, and in those cases, they will need your identification.

We've got two different AP's at Universal- the Premium, which has more perks (including Express after 3pm.) This one is printed on a plastic card with your picture on it. The Preferred offers less perks, and is printed on standard Universal ticket stock, no photo.

Ok, good to know. What is strange is I had the Power Pass, which is the cheapest version that includes blackout dates. Back in 2004-2005 it was the credit card style ticket with my picture on it.

I still wish Disney would swap at least to the credit card style ticket. I know it is hard to ruin the card stock version, but when resort guests have there tickets on a nicer card than AP Holders something isn't right!

If you have an AP, I would strongly suggest you consider DDE instead of the dining plan. Less restrictive and overall, a much better discount, especially if you make multiple visits. 20% flat discount off of most restaurants including alcohol. Plus you only buy one and its good for a party up to 10!
