it was nice to actually feel like you were wanted somewhere as a local.
It's not that Disney doesn't want you... They just don't need you.
See World, on the other hand.....

That's also true. As a local, it's not hard for me to spend $20-50 each day I'm there. And if I'm there once a week, well, that can add up.True...now...but the myth that's there's an unlimited supply of first time visiotors that want to drop $10,000 a week and can still actually grow attendance is about as believable as jack and the beanstalk...and that's the premise they have been operating on.
Generally speaking, I 100% agree. However, I suspect (and hope!) they made up for the slacking attendance this past week because the park has been slammed. Yesterday took us 45 minutes just to get through the parking plaza to park! But yeah, it’s all of the other gaps throughout the year that they need desperate help with.Sea World is desperate for anyone to show up.
It seems silly to get rid of the 20% discounts on food and/or merchandise. I know many, including myself, have purchased way more merchandise because of the discount.
I’m sure it’s hard to turn a profit on a hoodie made in Sri Lanka that normally costs $59 but is discounted to $47. And a $17 burger, fries, drink combo discounted to $13.60.It’s not silly if margin matters at all.
, I don't think there's a way to link a magicband for any purchases across the World.

How did they stay in business?
Can all of you hear that?? It’s the sound of other Disney resorts around the world calling your name.
Get your Disney fix. Leave Florida. Spend the same (or less) money.
WDW doesn’t care about you. Quit caring about them.
Pirates Shanghai... sindbad in Tokyo... mystic manor in Hong Kong.... they’re calling you. Listen.
Skip a wdw trip to make it happen if you need to. It’s worth it.
Quit taking the WDW beatings just because you think you have to. It’s highly likely you don’t.
On one hand...I agree...
On the other...I'll be damned if I fly 16 hours to give a cent to China...or more specifically igers stupid idea that China is "the future".
That will never be...and if they keep making crappier merch...disney won't even need the sweatshops anymore...
Then don’t be political about it and visit Tokyo. Or Paris. Or even Anaheim. The value and product is of better quality even there.
And if you’re worried about contributing to China’s economy... I’ve got news for you... you won’t avoid it. You already do it daily. And it quite literally can’t be avoided. Trust me. I know of what I speak.
But to each their own. I enjoyed shanghai’s Pirates. And mystic. And will enjoy both again, as I’m now a pass holder... for less than a few days at wdw.
There might be some leeway in executive bonuses...particularly in this company. The margins are set for various reasons. Mess with them, and you mess with profitability. This is basic. Leeway is limited. Businesses go down around those margins.
I think the inconvenient truth is most AP holders don't act, or more importantly, spend like valued guests.
We drank the kool-aid by the gallon. We would do a 3-4 day weekend there almost monthly while staying at a Disney resort, eating in their restaurants and spending more than we needed to on merch. We seemed to be the exception rather than the rule
All but the out of state AP holders I knew and a few fellow kool-aid drinkers would show up to the parks all the time, eat next to nothing, buy even less and would complain endlessly. If Disney's numbers support my observations, I am honestly surprised they still sell APs.
Spending $900 on dining is not hard at all especially when you have kids above 9. I can't remember the last time we got out of a Disney TS restaurant for under $100.
The 30% early/late dinner discount was great. 20% wasn't bad. 10% is meh.
At the end of the day, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area where I don't have to overpay for mediocre food.
Don't you have to be a resort guest to pay with your Magic Band?

I've been to both Anaheim and Paris fairly recently...
I agree that the value in Orlando is bad...probably the worst it's ever been dollar for dollar in history. Unfortunately they were very wise when they built there...it's in the perfect spot as far as demographic access/convenience goes.
What needs to happen is the consumers need to grow a spine...start rejecting upsells/special ticket events and even some of the lodging pricing that are out of whack. Market correction...basically.
But they're been drunk off the koolaid for near ten years now. Until that changes...we'll all be forced to pay for notably the mistakes with espn, amongst other corporate decisions that are disproportionately falling on Orlando, Anaheim, etc.
