The Sword in the Stone
  • Park presence? kids can pull sword from stone with Merlin's assistance at MK

While many of the other characters and plot points from this movie have gone forgotten, Merlin (at least in my opinion) still tends to be a relatively well known and well used character throughout Disney (even if he isn't seen much as a wandering character around the park). He is prominently featured in "Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom" and (outside of Disney parks) is also prominently featured in quite popular Disney app based game "Disney Magic Kingdoms". The story also would make for a great ride... shrinking to the size of a squirrel and running through the trees, turning into a fish and escaping the larger, toothier fish, and flying through the sky... with of course the wizard duel being the big finale. Heck, I would love to just see Madam Mim and the wizards duel incorporated into one of the night time shows (Fantasmic?).

How about a ride where we race Mini Cooper's around London and other famous U.K. locations while listening to different famous UK bands. Heck, make the Mini Cooper's time machines and while we race through time, the music that plays is a band from that era. From the Beetles to Cold Play, there will be something for everyone! I should be an imagineer lol.

Are you referring to the cast members or tourists being more polite?
The tourists/locals at Disneyland are far more polite. Did not encounter a single rude person that would usually be inevitable for the same amount of time spent at WDW, sadly. Cast Members are great at both resorts, but the service to me also felt like a step up from WDW. Perhaps the reason is that less parks mean more noticeable Cast Members that love the park? Whatever it is, I would assume it’s the closest to Tokyo in terms of politeness across the board. At the MK, there’s a ton of first timers that try to crane in everything, and don’t really care about what is in their way:p. Locals vs. tourists help.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again- can we just get a confirmation that it isn't Sword, Great Mouse Detective, Robin Hood, or Dalmatians?? I really think that the 4 are incredibly unlikely, but the fact that no one has said that they aren't going to be the ride feels odd.

(Sorry if the above statement ticks anyone off, I had to put my dog down yesterday and I'm having a very off day).
Leia, I’m so sorry. Losing a family member is tough. God bless!

I remember reading about a darkride concept around Sword in the Stone that details pretty much what you described. Merlin vs Mad Madam Mim. I don't remember where I read it. Does it sound familiar to anyone else?

I agreed until when you said ppl were nicer there. Lots of people squeezing pushing and fighting especially to see the parade and fireworks.
Fireworks were the exception, so we decided to watch them in Frontierland over Big Thunder. Fantastic view!! The problem with the fireworks are not the people, but that the hub is beyond small.
Everything else from queues, to the electrical Parade, World of Color, Soundsational etc. have far better and more comfortable experiences than WDW IMO.

Anyway, I wonder if the UK ride is planned to be cloned to another resort like Disneyland. @marni1971 is this a possibility?

I'd argue WDW as a whole has better queues but agreed on the rest. I think Festival of Fantasy is a much better parade than Soundsational though but that parade fits the park and they change things up more often (though not lately). But I guess we keep getting off-topic LOL

Queues, definitely yes as DL focuses more on the rides and the queues being compact, I meant queue times. There’s no comparison for the great rides:p.

It was a concept for a Fantasyland dark ride in WDW. It allegedly got canned in favor of the cheaper to build, already built Pan, Toad, and Snow White.

Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and IASW just to name a few are better here. Also from a rail fan's perspective, the locomotives on the WDWRR are much more awesome than those at DL. The bathrooms are also much better at WDW. The parks are bigger so I actually have personal space. Big Thunder is longer and faster with again a better queue. Better table service restaurants. But DL has more attractions and better quick service. Although I love Pecks Bill's.

Lets not make universal statments.... ISAW is much better at DL. Don't let the canal full you, its longer and much more detailed. Haunted Mansion is a dead heat between the two. I think the stretch rooms are vastly superior at DL, the ride is slightly better at WDW. Agreed about the engine of the WDWRR, but they don't have the same DISNEY heritage of the DLRR engine, hard to beat the first two were build by Walt.

They weren't built by Walt but by his machinists lol. If he saw the locomotives they have at WDW I can't imagine anyone could get him out of the cab of the Lilly Belle! Anyway, I have been on both IASWs and I like both a lot. Paris has the best one IMO. The Hm in DL has the old hitchhiking ghosts that just stare at you and the WDW one has some extra scenes. Although I do love the hatbox ghost. He's rumored to go in FL's as part of the 50 magical enhancements.
