News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

You need all types of rides in a park. Don't discount what a carousel can mean to a three year old and her family.
A cool no height limit dark ride would do the same thing, possibly even more.
“then enter Number 17, home of the Banks family, where your adventure will begin.”

This sounds more like a “dark ride” or a “enchanted tales with bell” attraction.
Hopefully the former and not the latter.

Just watched the presentation, now I could be hearing what I want to, however they way chapek described it makes me think it’s more then just a spinner, I seriously think it’s a dark ride. Could be wrong though.

Agreed!! This is exactly what I think as well. The way they made the announcement...almost like it was THE big "surprise" of the Epcot segment, and with a musical number... and Dick Van appearance....we're talking something bigger than a Meet and Greet or Carousel here. Also, if the attraction were Carousel themed...I'm certain Mary would have been riding a horse on the poster and not pictured descending onto Cherrytree Lane from the sky with her umbrella.

Here's what I think (which is different than what I know). Either they've fully enclosed the carousel OR they've went with an unorthodox track layout carousel using screens to create a looping dark ride ridden on horses. I don't know the answer to either yet, but that's my hunch.

We'll see! Whatever it is...they sure put a lot of emphasis behind the announcement, that's for sure.

The lack of details of the actual ride makes me think they may Main Street Theater the ride and we will get a Galaxy's Edge quality exterior of Cherry Tree Lane with no characters.

but could they have REALLY spiked Uni's wheel with Brazil, maybe one other Pavilion and an updated Imagination. Yes.

My guess is Brazil was planned to be announced yesterday, but they pulled it at the last minute due to fires.
So we know nothing new.

We know they are building Cherry Tree Lane. We know now that, officially, they are building a Poppins attraction, which before was only rumor.

@MisterPenguin could probably show how much room is there to work with using one of his maps.

You rang?...

The area within the current UK border that comprises the garden, maze, and surrounding tree-berm is half an acre, shown in the white box.

The area behind the UK comprises the roadway turnaround (which @marni1971 said was going to be 'rationalised') and storage units abutting the IG Gondola Station is 1.1 acres, shown in the pink box.

So, you would have at most 1.6 acres to work with.

Trying to figure out the size of the attractions you asked for is difficult because they're housed in a large building. But I believe Mr. Toad is .3 acres and the entire building for Toad, Pan, and Alice is .6 acres. In the MK, Pan is .3 acres and IaSW is 1.5 acres.

Doesn't the Jolly Holliday/carousel scene begin by jumping into chalk drawings on the sidewalk in the park? Would it make sense to have a carousel inside the Banks house? And "where the adventure will begin" sounds more like a moving dark ride than a carousel or meet and greet.

Based on the concept art, this looks to be in the area below in yellow. And there is a pretty large space for an attraction. I do hope it’s a ride.

To me everything below the green kite in the concept picture is already an exsisiting building. I don’t think cherry tree lane will be much bigger than the current courtyard area.

Compare the windows in the concept to the pic from google earth

Guys what if we've been wrong this whole time? With the revel of the Bank's house what if we've been thinking of the wrong type of carousel...
