Sounded like a walk-through attraction to me :/
Did you watch the sequel? Where they went into a porcelain bowl within the banks home? Sounds like the possibility for something like that. Again no concrete details but given the wording of the parks blog which called the Moana walk through an experience and this an ATTRACTION something tells me it's not a simple walk through.

No it isn't -- you're falling into the trap I already mentioned. Only a few movies bring in those massive numbers. You're looking at Marvel movies and thinking every movie that releases is supposed to make that kind of money when 99% of them don't even come close. Mary Poppins Returns was never going to be that kind of movie. The vast majority of movies would KILL to get $350 million in box office returns. Honestly, if you think otherwise you shouldn't even be commenting about this because you don't understand anything about the movie industry.

It wasn't an overwhelming, massive success, and it certainly didn't do as well as the original Mary Poppins. But it did reasonably well and wasn't anywhere close to being a flop on Solo's level.
So you honestly think Disney doesn’t think it underperformed?

Since it was lined up for a series of movies and they pre-promoted it with “Oscar bluster”??

But whoever in the studios screens movies with the execs before release...has really gotta get their cataracts removed.

Well when I heard the word attraction, my instinct was that if it was a ride, they would’ve been shouting it from the rooftops.

The original is classic. That’s all you need.

Snow White II? Unnecessary.

Unless they pull a Star Wars and completely ignore the original, and base it on “Returns” (which I enjoyed, btw.)

Reading these boards makes D23 a bit of a downer. How long has poppins in Epcot been discussed here? We learned nothing.

This board makes it a downer for me because all these otherwise exciting announcements/confirmations are met with cynicism, skepticism, criticism, and supercalifraggingpessimism.

“The magic is gone” alright - from here, I’m afraid.

If the concept art is accurate, looks like morroco in the back. Maybe they’re putting the facade across the front of the gazebo with the attraction behind.
I think that's supposed to be Big Ben in the background, to give the impression that it actually is in England. Here's an image to compare with the concept art to see where the new buildings will be.

This also gives credence to the idea that this isn't a dark ride, because the events tent (in the upper left corner) is pretty close and it doesn't seem like there's enough room for a ride there. Unless the building wraps around behind the gazebo too. That side is cut off on the concept art.

I don’t disagree...but Disney did reboot it with franchise in mind.

Everyone ended up being ticked off. Krasinski and blunt boycotted awards ceremonies because they thought Disney backstabbed them on promotion. Rob Marshall was on twitter defending it like that idiot Rian Johnson...

It didn’t turn out well.

And I didn’t hate the movie...but it was a straight reboot...not a sequel. Certainly not original.

I think Julie Andrews knew exactly what she was doing

It is over the top...

But these are not a good slate of things no matter how you slice it. You gotta raise the bar.

The angst for wdw comes from their problem with comfortable capacity/experience that the fanbase is becoming more and more tired of in general.

This says: “we’re ok with it”. Disney announced new attractions for 30+ years consistently when they didn’t have a problem...now they chose not to muster much after two years...when they can’t get anything built in 5 after?

You should at least see the frustration...even if you don’t share it.

You could go into the Bank's house and then out the back door to start your adventure on the carousel. Or you could go into the Bank's house and end up in a theater where you will see musical numbers from both movies. Or you could go into the Bank's house and have a magical walk through adventure. There are many, many ways this could progress and not be a dark ride.
