I bit of a quick update here and a bump to the thread.

I know this isn’t the most reliable source but...he has a proven track record. On the most recent episode of the Disney Dish Jim Hill details “Fire Mountain”. At the end when he answers the question why it didn’t get built the answer was Disney (obviously) doesn’t build rides, shows, and attractions based on flops/box office disappointments. For me while Mary Poppins Returns wasn’t the best performing movie ever I don’t believe it was a flop. Anyways back to Jim Hill his exact quote at the end of the show was “Which is kinda why very quietly Epcot over the last couple of MONTHS has placed their plans for a Mary Poppins Returns inspired ride into the UK pavilion has been tabled but hey you didn’t hear that from me.”

For me, this could mean two things:

1.) Their was a grand dark ride planned and now isn’t not being bulit
2.) Their was always a spinner cheaper budget type of ride always planned from the beginning and now that’s still to be bulit (as per @marni1971) or is now tabled.

*It also tells us one thing that if the ride comes to pass it will likely be on Returns...and not the OG Poppins. (Which for me is fine, the OG Poppins is much better, but I enjoyed Returns very much I’ll take what I can get in terms of representation.)

Again, Jim Hill isn’t the best source but he has been right before and he has mentioned this Poppins attraction many times before. For me, it’s a crime Poppins isn’t represented at all in the parks (except for a name in Jolly Holiday). Same goes for Aladdin...but that’s a thread for a different time. Thoughts?

Darn. It's a shame that Field of Dreams wasn't a Disney movie...

Yes and no from what I know. Should begin main phase of work later this year.

Good to know, was worried that it was shelved. At least...something is coming. Whatever that something is I’m sure we will see the form it takes at D23 or some random blog post depending on what it is. Of course it’s all depending if it ends up happening.

I hear that the Mary Poppins ride is going to be a family coaster in which you have to hang onto the handle of an umbrella.
Taylor Swift already owns that ride

It just seems to me that any Mary Poppins ride needs to be an E ticket. Yes I can see a Poppins carousel as an additional treat but the main attraction should be big. I would be okay with a smaller Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan ride. I am really not sure I like the IP invasion of World Showcase but am also unsure that a travelogue or even a “Maelstrom” style ride would work nowdays. It must be very difficult to please the new and traditional crowds.
