Yes, Walt said that during Disneyland's opening ceremony in the late morning of July 17th, 1955. And he didn't just mumble it, he said it very clearly in front of TV cameras, California Governor Goodwin Knight, a Protestant minister, a Catholic Priest,
and a Jewish Rabbi, standing in front of the American flag and a US Marine Corps color gaurd no less! Walt meant what he said. :sohappy:
But I'm sure you aren't suggesting that Walt meant that everyone in
all the world, 2.7 Billion people in 1955, were somehow guaranteed entry to Disneyland. And as Walt was planning for additional Disney theme parks when he passed away in 1966, when the world population was 3.4 Billion people, surely he didn't expect that all of them were guaranteed entry to Project X out in Florida.
The current population on the planet is now approximately 6.8 Billion people. The Magic Kingdom adds another SpectroMagic and extends operating hours when 60,000 people show up. It would take
centuries to accomodate all of the Billions of people currently on the planet to give them a free ticket to Disney World. Not to mention that by 2050 the global population would have grown to 9.5 Billion, extending out the need for even more time to get everyone into the Magic Kingdom or any other Disneyland style park around the world.
Not to mention all of the extra overtime they'll need to run for those extra SpectroMagic parades!
